One day, I met another me. He told me that he`d met another Hitoshi last week. Now it looks like everyone`s turning into me -- and some of them have decided to get rid of the others... by any means necessary.
Pictures Dept. is proud to present IT`S ME, IT`S ME (??, Ore Ore, 2013), the Japanese sci-fi sensation that`s blown away festival audiences worldwide! Coming to select US theaters on November 8th, this dreamy, otherworldly adventure from acclaimed director Satoshi Miki (ADRIFT IN TOKYO) delivers dark turns, clever comedy, and stunning special effects in a brilliant, genre-defying tale of multiplicity. Kazuya Kamenashi of a popular boy-band, KAT-TUN, stars as the protagonist, Hitoshi, who is at ?rst disoriented in the world that is inhabited by so many Hitoshis, yet unexpectedly finds the uncomplicated relationships among “himselves” quite comfortable. Based on a popular Japanese contemporary novel, director Miki wrote the script himself, opting for an original, spellbinding ending that makes full use of the art. Realistic, surreal, funny and unnerving, this film will swallow you up in unfathomable suspense. Synopsis The world is full of me. Handsome 28 year-old Hitoshi takes part in a casual cell phone scam, which triggers a surreal series of unexpected events, ultimately turning everyone into duplicates of the young man -- who eventually turn on each other! After picking up a cellphone left behind by a customer, 28 year-old Hitoshi undertakes a popular scam: he calls the person`s mother and with the open-sesame magic formula "It`s me! It`s me!" poses as her son, easily talking the mom into transferring cash to his own depleted bank account. Soon, Hitoshi gets not just a lot more money, but a new mum, and a new "me," in the person of a doppelganger. And that`s not the end of it, Hitoshi ends up proliferating, until the whole city becomes a metropolis of "me" (well, him) walking around everywhere. Which is great for the narcissistic young man... until they start killing each other.
Director`s Profile: Satoshi Miki Miki has created a world all his own (known as “the Miki World”) with an original perspective in his highly entertaining films, which have earned him high critical acclaim internationally including ADRIFT IN TOKYO (??, Tenten, 2007), INSTANT SWAMP (???????, Insutanto Numa, 2009) and IN THE POOL (????????, In Za Puru, 2005). Miki started off his career as a TV writer while still in college and has written and produced TV dramas, variety shows, films and plays. He has established his position as a popular writer with numerous hits under his belt such as TIME LIMIT INVESTIGATOR (Jiko Keisatsu). His works gradually derail from reality, and are peppered with dialogue and stage settings that are typically permeated with his quirky sense of humor -- often described as “disarming (datsuryoku-kei)” and “laid-back (yuru-kei)” -- which frequently refers to Monty Python-styled comedy.
