This winter, your body will become the stage for an epic story. Welcome to a film that will make you laugh, cry, and learn...!
Warner Bros. Pictures Japan has provided information and photos for CELLS AT WORK! (はたらく細胞, Hataraku Saibō), a live-action feature film based on the popular action comedy manga. The movie will open in Japanese cinemas this Friday, December 13th.
The Cells at Work! manga was created by Akane Shimizu and debuted in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius in 2015. The series, following the adventures of athropomorhized human blood cells, became a mega-hit, selling more than 10 million copies in total, and has spawned an anime adaptation, numerous spin-offs, and related books.
Now comes a live-action film adaptation starring Mei Nagano (TEASING MASTER TAKAGI-SAN) as a red blood cell and Takeru Satoh (RUROUNI KENSHIN) as a white blood cell, along with Sadawo Abe (REVOLVER LILY) and Mana Ashida (PACIFIC RIM) as a human parent and child. CELLS AT WORK! is directed by hit-maker Hideki Takeuchi (THERMAE ROMAE, FLY ME TO THE SAITAMA) and the action director is Takahito Ouchi (RUROUNI KENSHIN, YU YU HAKUSHO). This dream team has created a one-of-a-kind visual experience that is best appreciated in a movie theater.
