    Madman Announces New Anime Acquisitions

K (2012) From GoHands -- the studio responsible for the cyberpunk anime film series MARDOCK SCRAMBLE, and the enigmatic writers’ collective ‘GoRA Project’ -- comes K, a new and wholly original anime series set in a world where history has taken a slightly different course than our own. K follows the story of a young boy whose life is caught in a psychic war between seven kings. Yashiro Isana -- also known as Shiro -- is wanted for a crime he has no recollection of committing. He finds himself being hunted by two groups -- the Homura, led by the “Red King” Mikoto Suoh and Scepter 4, led by the “Blue King”, Reisi Munakata. Whilst on the run, a young man named Kuroh Yatogami comes to Shiro’s aid, and it is an encounter will change his life forever. K will be streaming from Wednesday November 14 on madman.com.au/screeningroom. New episodes will go online at 12pm every Wednesday. A home video release will be announced in 2013.

    MAGI: THE LABYRINTH OF MAGIC (??, Magi, 2012) In this unique take on the famed Middle-Eastern folk tale, a boy named Aladdin travels around a strange land in which mysterious ruins called ‘dungeons’ are said to house priceless treasures. Together with Alibaba - a friend he meets during his travels -- and Ugo, a djinn who is summoned by his magic flute, Aladdin strives to conquer all of the ‘dungeons’ in the land and acquire all their treasures. But along the way, Aladdin will also learn of his own fate... MAGI: THE LABYRINTH OF MAGIC will be streaming from Monday November 12 on madman.com.au/screeningroom. A home video release will be announced in 2013 BLAST OF TEMPEST (????????, Zetsuen no Tenpesuto, 2012) The Kusaribe are a family of sorcerers living under the protection of ‘The Tree of Life’, and their princess, Hakaze Kusaribe, is the greatest of them all. Seeking to resurrect the ‘Tree of World`s End’, a tree that opposes the ‘Tree of Origins’ and controls the power of destruction, Samon Kusaribe betrays his family and banishes Hakaze to a deserted island. When Hakaze sends a distress call out to sea, it is picked up by Mahiro Fuwa, a young boy who`s sworn vengeance upon the criminal who killed his little sister. Mahiro agrees to help Hakaze under the condition that she find his sister’s killer with her magic, and soon enough, he too is dragged into this tale of revenge. An online streaming season is yet to be confirmed. A home video release will follow in 2013. BLOOD C (???? ??, 2011) A new addition to the BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE saga! Horrifying beasts with a hunger for human flesh prey on the citizens of a quiet town. In moonlit twilight, Saya slays the monsters and returns home drenched in blood. As the attacks increase in frequency and intensity, her enemies relay cryptic messages about a broken contract. Limbs are torn from flesh and skulls are crushed and devoured while the huntress struggles with paralyzing visions and gaping holes in her memory. When the humans Saya promised to protect reveal the sickening truth about her role in the violence, she learns her mission isn’t as clear cut as she thought—and her most sadistic foe of all is so close she can taste it.

    SWORD ART ONLINE (????????????, Soodo Aato Onrain, 2012) In the near future, a Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online has players controlling their avatars with their bodies via a piece of technology called Nerve Gear. One day, players discover they cannot log out, as the game creator is holding them captive until they reach the 100th floor of the game`s tower and defeat the final boss. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life. Their struggle for survival starts now... An online streaming season is yet to be confirmed. A home video release will follow in 2013. Coming in 2013... K-ON! THE MOVIE (????!, 2011) Five-piece girl band HOKAGO TEA TIME have been together all throughout high school, and now it’s time to graduate! Ready to let their hair down and celebrate, they start planning a graduation trip - destination London! The band’s overseas debut is a whirlwind mix of gigs, adventures and comic mishaps, packed with K-ON style laughs, music and – of course – tea. Based on the wildly popular TV anime series, this is one for K-ON fans young and old. K-ON! THE MOVIE will be screening as part of the Japan Film Festival in Sydney and Melbourne this December. A home video release will be announced sometime in 2013. BLEACH THE MOVIE: HELL VERSE (BLEACH ???, Bleach: Jigoku-hen, 2010) Hell -- a place where beings that have committed mortal sins during their lifetime are sent. It is a realm where even Soul Reapers are forbidden to interfere. When a group of vicious Sinners plots to escape from this eternal prison, they discover that Substitute Soul Reaper, Ichigo Kurosaki is the key to their freedom. The Sinners launch an attack, and in the process, kidnap Ichigo`s younger sister, Yuzu, dragging her with them to Hell. With the help of a mysterious man named Kokuto, Ichigo and his friends must now travel into the depths of Hell to stop the Sinners and save Yuzu, unaware that their actions could bring Hell to the World of the Living. Available on DVD/Blu-Ray and Digital in March 2013.

    FATE/STAY NIGHT - UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS (??? ?????/??????- UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS?, Feito/Sutei Naito: Unlimited Blade Works, 2010) Having spent the last ten years of his life studying under a mysterious sorcerer, Shiro Emiya has become a Magi -- summoning a mystical female warrior ‘servant’ of incredible power named Saber. They will stand together in the ultimate test of sorcery and magic, the Holy Grail War. But will Shiro’s own feelings for Saber interfere with their goal? HELLSING ULTIMATE - EPISODES V-VIII (????????, Herushingu OVA) The long awaited new episodes of HELLSING ULTIMATE are finally coming! In preparation, HELLSING ULTIMATE episodes I-IV will be re-released in February 2013 as a DVD and, for the first time ever, Blu-Ray collection. In March, Madman will release a second collection featuring episodes V-VIII, also available on both DVD and Blu-Ray formats. A third and final collection featuring episode IX and the extended 67 minute final episode will be released at a yet to be determined future date.
