The two great monsters, Gamera and Godzilla, finally collide!
Toho's smartphone game "Godzilla Battle Line" (ゴジラ バトルライン, Gojira Batoru Rain) has announced a special collaboration with the Kadokawa anime series GAMERA -Rebirth- (ガメラ リバース, Gamera Ribāsu). The new season of the game, "Final Battle! Godzilla vs Gamera Rebirth" (頂上決戦!ゴジラ vs ガメラ・リバース, Chōjō Kessen! Gojira vs Gamera Ribāsu) will begin on Thursday, September 7, the same day that GAMERA -Rebirth- is distributed worldwide on Netflix.
GAMERA -Rebirth- director Hiroyuki Seshita previously co-directed the Anigoji Trilogy of GODZILLA: PLANET OF THE MONSTERS (GODZILLA 怪獣惑星, Gojira: Kaijū Wakusei, 2017), GODZILLA: CITY ON THE EDGE OF BATTLE (GODZILLA 決戦機動増殖都市, Gojira: Kessen Kidō Zōshoku Toshi, 2018) and GODZILLA: THE PLANET EATER (GODZILLA 星を喰う者, Gojira: Hoshi o Kū Mono, 2018), and today's official announcment for the game included key art and a trailer depicting the clash between Seshita's Godzilla Earth and Gamera Rebirth.
The game is now offering battle pieces of Gamera and his foe Gyaos, which will become playable on September 7 and September 15, respectively. Gamera can perform both ground and aerial attacks, including a flame blast that can drive back enemies and deal 250% more damage. Gyaos is able to make long-range attacks with its ultrasonic scalpel.
"Final Battle! Godzilla vs Gamera Rebirth" will feature a login bonus, unique missions, commemorative packs, and much more! In addition, Toho is holding an SNS campaign to celebrate the event, giving Japanese fans (or those with a Japanese mailing address) a chance to win Godzilla and Gamera merchandise, including GAMERA -Rebirth- coach jackets and a Bandai Movie Monster Series - Godzilla Earth: Heat Radiation ver. figures. The campaign will be held from September 1 through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 14.
