Toho Co., Ltd. has provided information and high-res images from their upcoming release, DORAEMON THE MOVIE: NOBITA`S TREASURE ISLAND (??????? ??????, Eiga Doraemon Nobita no Takarajima), opening in Japan on March 3, 2018. Inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson`s classic Treasure Island, NOBITA`S TREASURE ISLAND is the 38th entry in the film series based on the manga created by Fujiko Fujio (Hiroshi Fujimoto and Motoo Abiko). The movies have become increasingly popular with families and anime fans, with last year`s DORAEMON THE MOVIE 2017: GREAT ADVENTURE IN THE ANTARCTIC KACHI KOCHI (??????? ?????????????, Eiga Doraemon Nobita no Nankyoku Kachikochi Daibooken) earning a series high at the Japanese box office. Kazuaki Imai, a director on the DORAEMON television series, makes his feature film directorial debut. The screenplay was written by Genki Kawamura, the producer behind hit films including THE BOY AND THE BEAST (??????, Bakemono no Ko, 2015) and YOUR NAME (?????, Kimi no Na wa., 2016). Kawamura is also a novelist whose 2012 book If Cats Disappeared From the World (???????????, Sekai kara Neko ga Kieta nara) was adapted as a live-action film released by Toho in 2016. STORY A sparkling expanse of ocean. Doraemon, Nobita, Shizuka, Jaian and Suneo depart on an adventure to find the so-called Treasure Island... Nobita declares to Jaian that he will find the legendary Treasure Island by using Doraemon`s secret tool, the "Treasure Hunt Map". Surprisingly, the map points to a new island that suddenly appeared in the Pacific Ocean. As Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends head for Treasure Island they are suddenly attacked by pirates! They escape the villains after a furious battle, but Shizuka is kidnapped by the pirates. Next, Nobita and company meet Flock, a young boy, and Quiz, a robot parrot, who have been floating at sea. Flock knew an important secret about Treasure Island, discovered while fleeing from the pirate ship. Can Nobita safely rescue Shizuka? And what is the hidden truth buried on Treasure Island? Doraemon and Nobita`s friendship will be the key!
