Toei Animation has released details, artwork and two music videos for their upcoming anime, GIRLS BAND CRY (ガールズバンドクライ, Gāruzu Bando Kurai). The film focuses on the members of the girls' band "Togenashi Togeari" (トゲナシトゲアリ, meaning "Prickly Ant"), who are played by five singers/voice actors selected in the "Girl's Rock Audition" hosted by agehasprings.
The movie is directed by Kazuo Sakai, with character designs by Nari Teshima, CG direction by Mari Kondo and Jae Hoon Jung, music by Kenji Tamai (agehasprings), and production by Toei Animation. The staff who have created works that attract young people have gathered together to take on the challenge of creating an original CG animation with an illustration quality never seen before.

In her second year of high school, the main character, Nina Iseri, drops out of school and goes to Tokyo by herself to work and pursue college. In front of a station in the suburbs, she meets Momoka Kawaragi, who sings alone, and is touched by the power of music.
Subaru Awa, a girl who lives in secret, hiding from her true feelings,
Rupa, a girl who was betrayed by her friends and does not know what to do.
Tomo Ebizuka, a girl who has been abandoned by her parents and is now working part-time to make ends meet in the big city.
This world always betrays us.
Nothing is as it seems.
But we want to love something.
Because we believe there is a place for us somewhere.
That's why we sing.

The splendid cast members are unveiled!
The band "Togenashi Togeari"consists of five members selected through the "Girl's Rock Audition," an audition held in June 2021 under the auspices of agehasprings with the cooperation of Universal Music and Toei Animation. Rina will play the role of Nina Iceri (Vocals), Yuuri will play the role of Momoka Kawaraki (Guitarist), Mirei will play the role of Subaru Awa (Drummer), Nagito will play the role of Tomoi Ebizuka (Keyboardist), and Shuri will play the role of Rupa (Bassist).

Two music videos with different world views were released! First single to be released on Wednesday, July 26!
As an experiment, Toei Animation has released two animated music videos with different world views, "Nameless Name" (名もなき何もかも, Namae no Naki Nankaku) and "no rhyme nor reason" (偽りの理, Itsuwari no Kotowari). They are the first in a series of videos leading up to the film's release.
The "Nameless Name" video was created with illustration-quality CG animation that feels like a novelty. Nina runs through Kawasaki City in Kanagawa Prefecture, where the story takes place, and sings while exposing her emotions. Her screams, which seem to expose her own heart, fuel expectations for an emotional film.
The second music video is "no rhyme nor reason", Illustrated by sakiyama with visuals by MONO-Devoid. This video was created with a free spirit and is a departure from the main anime. The rough and rugged touch of the illustrations evokes the worries and resentments of teenagers.

New music videos will be released on Monday, June 26 and Monday, July 24.
The first soundtrack CD will be released on Wednesday, July 26. In addition to the long version of the music video for "Nameless Name" and the music video for "no rhyme nor reason", the CD will also include three episodes of a CD drama. The CD drama runs three episodes, allowing the audience to enjoy the conversations between the characters of the film.. A second CD, featuring the next two videos, will be released on Wednesday, August 30.
