    Toho Co., Ltd. has provided SciFi Japan with information and images for their 45th Anniversary theatrical re-release of LUPIN THE 3RD: THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO (ルパン三世 カリオストロの城, Rupan Sansei Kariosutoro no Shiro, 1979). The second entry in the Lupin III movie series, THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO was the feature film directorial debut of the legendary Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki (MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, SPIRITED AWAY), and is widely considered the best of the series. Miyazaki also co-wrote the screenplay with Haruya Yamazaki (SPECTREMAN, SPACE AGENT COBRA).

    LUPIN THE 3RD: THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO will receive a theatrical run across Japan starting November 29th. The film will also be screened in IMAX for the first time at 52 theaters nationwide that same day.

    STORY

    The master thief Lupin and his partner Jigen invade the small European country of Cagliostro, the source of the fake money known as the "phantom counterfeit bills," and meet the lovely Lady Clarisse. Lupin learns of the schemes of Count Cagliostro, who has held real power in the principality since the death of the Grand Duke of Cagliostro, and the hidden side of the quiet kingdom.

    What is the secret of the Cagliostro Kingdom? Can Lupin defeat his nemesis Count Cagliostro and save Clarisse? Lupin's challenge begins, involving Jigen, the swordsman Goemon, his ex-girlfriend Fujiko, and his arch-enemy Inspector Zenigata!
