STUDIO4℃ is pleased to announce the anime feature film PHOENIX: REMINISCENCE OF FLOWER (火の鳥 エデンの花, Hi no Tori Eden no Hana, 2023), an adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's legendary original story Phoenix (火の鳥, Hi no Tori) will be screened with a live performance by a full orchestra on Christmas Eve for one night only.
Osamu Tezuka, the “God of Manga,” is still revered around the world. His masterpiece and lifework was Phoenix, comprised of 12 stories created from 1967-1988. One of those stories, Nostalgia (望郷編, Bōkyō-hen), which depicts the future of the earth and the universe, was adapted by STUDIO4℃ as PHOENIX: REMINISCENCE OF FLOWER, which was released in Japan on November 3, 2023.
REMINISCENCE OF FLOWER returns for a special one-night-only screening in Musashino City, Tokyo, where STUDIO4℃ is located, on Christmas Eve, 2024. The entire film will be projected on a big screen, and the Gunma Symphony Orchestra, a full orchestra of about 70 members, will perform live. The soundtrack, composed by the up-and-coming composer Takatsugu Muramatsu, winner of the Japan Academy Award for Excellence in Music three times, is as magnificent as a firebird soaring through space and, together with the charming characters such as Romi and Com and the high-quality animation presented by STUDIO4℃, will give the audience great excitement and dreams. This film has not yet been packaged on DVD or other media, so this will be a rare opportunity to see thefull-length version.
To commemorate this dreamy holy night, the organizers have decided to offer an admission gift to the audience! The gift will be a “Phoenix Christmas Card” with a frame from Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix: Nostalgia manga in which the characters are thrilled by the “sound,” just as the audience will be at this year's Cinema Symphony.

STORY
You shall live.
A rocket lands on the desolate frontier planet Eden 17. Romi (voice: Rie Miyazawa) and her boyfriend George (voice: Yosuke Kubozuka), who fled Earth, vow to make this planet their new home. Romi is forced to live a life of survival with her only son Cain and an AI robot.

One day, a kind-hearted boy named Com (voice: Honoka Yoshida) meets the sad Queen Romi in her palace. Knowing of Romi's longing for home, Com decides to go to Earth with her, and the two of them venture out into the vastness of space together, knowing that it is a reckless challenge.
