    Comscore has announced the official North American box office estimates for the weekend of May 16, 2021, as compiled by the company’s theatrical measurement services.     North American Openers:

    For the 6th time in franchise history a “Saw” film is the #1 film in North America as SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures scared up an estimated $8.725 million from 2,811 theaters across the country. The suspense/horror film stars Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella and is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman.  

    Warner Bros. opened THOSE WHO WISH ME DEAD starring Angelina Jolie in 3,188 locations to $2.8M and a PTA of $878.Jolie stars as Hannah, a smoke jumper still reeling from the loss of three lives she failed to save from a fire when she comes across a traumatized 12-year-old boy with nowhere else to turn.  

    Roadside Attractions opened FINDING YOU in 1,312 locations for a weekend take of $954,297 and a PTA of $727.

    Focus Features opened PROFILE in 2,033 locations to $670K for a PTA of $330. The suspense film stars Valene Kane, Shazad Latif, Christine Adams, Amir Rahimzadeh and is directed by Timur Bekmambetov.  

    Paramount re-issued the original TOP GUN starring Tom Cruise in 153 locations and earned $200K for a cume of $248k. 

    IFC Midnight opened THE DJINN and the film grossed an estimated $41,250 from 41 theaters for a per theater average of $1,006.This is the debut feature from filmmakers David Charbonier and Justin Powell.  

    Neon opened THE KILLING OF TWO LOVERS in 34 locations for a weekend gross of $24,500 and a PTA of $721.

     

    ■ Notable North American Performers: 

    United Artists Releasing’s WRATH OF MAN starring Jason Statham now in its second weekend earned $3.74M for a cume through Sunday of $14.602M. The R-rated action suspense films also stars Holt McCallany, Scott Eastwood, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonso, Deobia Oparei, Eddie Marsan and is directed by Guy Ritchie.  

    Funimation’s DEMON SLAYER -KIMETSU NO YAIBA- THE MOVIE: MUGEN TRAIN now in its fourth weekend earned $1.85M in 1,930 theaters for a PTA of $959 and a cume to date in North America of $42,026,387.  

    Disney’s RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON now in weekend 11 earned $1.718M in 2,285 theaters for a N. Am. cume through Sunday of $46,123,814.  

    Warner Bros.’ GODZILLA VS. KONG earned $1.46M in this, its seventh weekend in 2,484 locations for a PTA of $588 and a North American cume through Sunday of $95.011M.  

    Warner Bros.’ MORTAL KOMBAT now in its fourth weekend earned $1.32 million in 2,465 locations for a PTA of $535 and a N. Am. cume to date of $39.906M.

    Sony’s Stage 6 Films’ comedy/drama HERE TODAY now in its second weekend took in $530k for a cume through Sunday of $1.909M.  

    Universal’s NOBODY now in its eighth weekend in North America earned $380k in 1,553 locations for a N. Am. cume through Sunday of $25.28M.  

     

    ■ Notable Specialized Film Action in North America:

    Vertical Entertainment’s FOUR GOOD DAYS now in weekend 3 earned $73k in 326 locations for a PTA of $224 and a cume to date of $775,723. 

    A24’s MINARI now in its 14th weekend took in $42k this weekend in 218 locations for a cume to date of $3,044,562M. 

    Bleecker Street’s TOGETHER TOGETHER now in weekend 4 earned $33,791 in 165 locations for a N. Am. cume through Sunday of $1,361,380. 

    Focus Features’ LIMBO now in its third weekend earned $15k in 71 locations for a PTA of $211 and a cume to date of $216k. 

    Vertical Entertainment’s THE RESORT now in weekend 3 earned $12k in 19 locations for a PTA of $632 and a cume to date of $182,070.

    SPIRAL thrills Domestic audiences in IMAX as momentum continues at the worldwide box office    Lionsgate’s SPIRAL starring Chris Rock and Samuel L Jackson scared-up $1M in IMAX box office in North America and accounted for nearly 12% of the Domestic take.
