The film had an excellent domestic debut, taking in 1.02 billion yen (10億2000万円) -- including ticket sales from a hugely successful lauch on IMAX -- for one of the best opening weekends for a live-action Japanese film in 2023. Reviews and word-of-mouth have been positive for GODZILLA MINUS ONE, suggesting that it will have legs at the Japanese box oiffice.

Also, although currently screening only in Japan, GODZILLA MINUS ONE still managed to break into the Top 10 at the international box office.  The movie's international release will expand with the US on December 1st, then the UK and Ireland on December 15th, with additional countries TBA.
