SECTOR 7 on Australian DVD in April

Hot on the heels of yesterday`s announcement that SECTOR 7 (7??, Chil gwanggu, 2011) -- South Korea`s first homegrown 3D IMAX film -- has been licensed for home video in North America by Shout! Factory comes word that an Australian release is also in the works from distributor Madman Entertainment. Madman has confirmed that the Region 4 DVD will street on April 18th. SECTOR 7 was written and produced by Yoon Je-kyun. Referred to as "the Korean Michael Bay", Yoon was the director of the tidal-wave disaster hit HAEUNDAE (???, released in the US as TIDAL WAVE). The film was directed by Kim Ji-hoon, who previously helmed the drama MAY 18 (??? ??, Hwaryeohan hyuga, 2008) and is currently at work on the disaster flick THE TOWER (??). The story of SECTOR 7 is set in a real location near Jeju Island that is thought to hold massive oil and natural gas reserves. South Korea and Japan vied for its sovereignty in the 1970s. On an isolated oil rig platform, Cha Hae-jun (Ha Ji-won) works as the equipment manager for a small but dedicated crew. The region of sea, called "Sector 7", represents their last hope of finding oil. After an undersea expedition goes horribly wrong, other crew members begin to turn up dead; one by one, their bodies viciously mutilated. What the few survivors soon discover is a transparent underwater creature they had encountered once before. The viral monster infiltrated the ship through the drilling pipe and has been feeding on the crew to survive. Hae-jun and her colleagues’ frantic fight for survival begins...
