A SCIFI JAPAN EXCLUSIVE
Distributor SRS Cinema has licensed North American home media rights an obscure 1984 Korean movie from director Jeong-yong Kim (BRUCE LEE`S WAYS OF KUNG FU, DRAGON AGAINST VAMPIRE, FIST OF GOLDEN MONKEY). Never before released in America, the film was screened in its native country as THE UNDEAD BEAST (비천괴수, Bicheongoesu) but is better known as THE FLYING MONSTER (飛天怪ç¸), the international title used for its release in Japan and other Asian markets. The independent production was a combination of new scenes shot in Korea with local actors, and monster footage lifted from Tsuburaya Productions` 1971 television series, RETURN OF ULTRAMAN (帰ã£ã¦ããŸã‚¦ãƒ«ãƒˆãƒ©ãƒžãƒ³, Kaettekita Urutoraman). In THE FLYING MONSTER, a young reporter named Kang Ok-hee is writing a story about the theories of Dr. Kim, a scientist who believes that dinosaurs still exist in the modern world. When gigantic creatures suddenly appear and cause massive destruction, the doctor and journalist must find a way to save the world. THE FLYING MONSTER will soon be available for preorder at srscinema.com. Details are still being finalized, but the film will likely be released by SRS Cinema as Blu-ray and VHS Special Editions, with a wider release on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD next year.
