    Godzilla 70th Anniversary Event in Little Tokyo Adds Metro Los Angeles Godzilla Train and Station!

    Godzilla Invades Little Tokyo!

    In cooperation with Toho, Jungle Entertainment Hobby Shop  (aka Anime Jungle) is hosting a Godzilla 70th Anniversary celebration in the Little Tokyo district* of Los Angeles starting this Saturday.

    The centerpiece of the event is the official Godzilla 70th Anniversary Pop-Up Shop which will operate from November 2nd to November 17th. The Pop-Up will be in the Japanese Village Plaza adjacent to Anime Jungle’s current retail stores (address below), and is the only retail location where fans can buy official ‘Godzilla store’ merchandise and exclusive products, including the limited edition Bandai Movie Monster Series: Godzilla (2023) silver figure. Customers can get a free event exclusive Godzilla tote bag with a purchase of $50 or more and a free Godzilla poster with purchases of $100 or more (while supplies last). Fans can also enjoy an immersive photo op area with any purchase at the Godzilla 70th Anniversary Pop-Up Shop. The Godzilla Pop-Up will be open daily from 12:00pm to 7:00pm and will be closed on Tuesdays.

     

    Godzilla Movie Screenings with Guest Shizuo Nakajima this Saturday!

    On Saturday, November 2nd, the original GODZILLA (1954) and GODZILLA MINUS ONE (2023) will be screened at the historic Aratani Theatre (address and link below). Both films will be screened in the original Japanese with English subtitles. Doors open for the screening of the original 1954 GODZILLA at 12:00pm and at 2:30pm for GODZILLA MINUS ONE. Tickets can be purchased online on the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center website.

    Toho filmmaker Shizuo Nakajima will be a special guest for the screenings and take part in a panel prior to the screening of GODZILLA MINUS ONE.  Mr. Nakajima was involved in the production of Godzilla films in the 1970's and 80's and also made the unfinished WOLFMAN VS GODZILLA. He will share behind-the-scenes stories about making Godzilla movies.

    Moviegoers can enjoy a single film for $10 or the double feature with Q&A for $20. Customers who purchase a double feature movie ticket get a free 1954 GODZILLA movie poster.

     

    Godzilla Train and Little Tokyo/Arts District Station Activation Event!

    Adding to the fun, Metro Los Angeles has also partnered with Jungle celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Godzilla! Starting today (October 28th) through November 17th, fans can travel in style with the Godzilla-wrapped E Line train running from Downtown Santa Monica to Atlantic Blvd.  

    On Saturday, November 2nd, Godzilla fans can take the Metro A or E Line to the Little Tokyo/Arts District Station (address below) and enjoy the larger-than-life Godzilla activations and participate in a variety of special events at the station’s plaza area including the following:

    • 10:30 a.m. All Godzilla and Kaiju cosplay enthusiasts will receive a commemorative Godzilla TAP (Transit Access Pass) card, while supplies last. 
    • 11:30 a.m., Metro will lead a Kaiju parade procession to Anime Jungle’s Godzilla Pop-Up Shop in the Japanese Village Plaza for the grand opening at Noon. 
    • 1 p.m., Come meet known Kaiju cosplay actor Krystopher Baioa (@kaijukrys) and experience his Fusion Godzilla suit in person. 
    • Get your commemorative Godzilla TAP cards at Anime Jungle through Nov. 11
    • Large Format Panels (10'x10') depicting Godzilla will be displayed on the Station's plaza area for the weekend of Nov 2-3.
