Toho has provided information and high-res images from their new anime film, DETECTIVE CONAN: THE SCARLET BULLET (????????????, Meitantei Konan Hiiro no Dangan). The 24th installment in the blockbuster series based on the Detective Conan manga by Gosho Aoyama was scheduled for nationwide release in Japan on April 17th, but is now listed as “coming soon” due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous movie in the series, DETECTIVE CONAN: THE FIST OF BLUE SAPPHIRE (?????? ????????????????, Meitantei Konan Konj? no Ken (Konji ~Youno Fisuto), recorded the highest box office revenue of the franchise so far, earning 9.37 billion yen in Japan. It was also the seventh consecutive Detective Conan movie to top its predecessor in ticket sales. Directing DETECTIVE CONAN: THE SCARLET BULLET is Tomoka Nagaoka, who also directed last year`s entry. The first female director for the Detective Conan movie series, Nagaoka previously worked as the assistant director on the 21st film, DETECTIVE CONAN: THE CRIMSON LOVE LETTER (?????? ???????????????????, Meitantei Konan Kara Kurenai no Renka (Kara Kurenai nora Bureta), 2017?. Screenwriter Takahiro Okura (DETECTIVE CONAN: THE CRIMSON LOVE LETTER, DETECTIVE CONAN: THE FIST OF BLUE SAPPHIRE) returns to the franchise. Longtime members involved in the Detective Conan staff and cast include Katsuo Ohno writing the music, Minami Takayama starring as the main character Conan Edogawa, along with Wakana Yamazaki as Ran Mori and Rikiya Koyama as Kogoro Mori. They are joined by the popular young actress Minami Hamabe (YO-KAI WATCH THE MOVIE 2016, MY LITTLE MONSTER, THE GREAT WAR OF ARCHIMEDES, MURDER AT SHIJINSO), who comes to the series for the first time as a special guest.
ABOUT DETECTIVE CONAN (aka CASE CLOSED) The Detective Conan manga was first serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday, published by Shogakukan Inc., in 1994. The total sales of the 94 published volumes has exceeded 230 million copies. The series is one of the bestselling detective mystery comics and is very popular internationally as well. STORY Japan celebrates the upcoming WSG (World Sports Games), the world`s largest sports festival which will be held that summer in Tokyo. At the opening ceremony, it was announced that the "Vacuum Superconducting Linear," a new bullet train that boasts a maximum speed of 1,000 km per hour, will run between Shin-Nagoya Station and the new Shibahama Station in Tokyo. As these events attract the attention of the world, an incident suddenly occurs at a party for famous tournament sponsors! Top WSG executives are abducted, one after another. Monitoring the incident are Shuichi Akai and the FBI, who is waiting for orders from Akai. Conan Edogawa sees a connection between the crime and a series of kidnappings of WSG execs that occurred 15 years ago in Boston, USA... a case that was also under the jurisdiction of the FBI. Is this more than a coincidence? As thousands of sports fans from all over the world gather in Tokyo, deadly secrets, a mysterious family and a "scarlet bullet" threaten them all. The danger that can never be stopped accelerates now...
