Tokyo Dome Resort Operations Co., Ltd. (Location: Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture; Representative: Takayuki Iwase), in cooperation with SCRAP Corporation (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Takao Kato), has announced that their Real Escape Game "Godzilla Approaching: Hotel Escape" (ゴジラ迫るホテルからの脱出, Gojira Semaru Hoteru Kara no Dasshutsu) has been extended until Sunday, July 23, 2023.
Also known as "Atami Godzilla Escape" (熱海ゴジラ脱出, Atami Gojira Dasshutsu), the Godzilla event is held at Atami Bay Resort Korakuen, a tourist retreat complex that includes the Atami Korakuen Hotel, which opened 1965. Atami was the site of the final battle in the 1962 film KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (キングコング対ゴジラ, Kingu Kongu Tai Gojira), and has been the setting for various monster movies and special effects films.
There are two versions of "Godzilla Approaching: Hotel Escape" to choose from. The longer "Overnight Course" allows players to fully enjoy the resort, which is located in a perfect location overlooking the night view of Atami and the Sagami Sea. The "Day Course" is a more lighthearted game that allowsplayers to easily balance Atami sightseeing and puzzle-solving. Both courses have proven popular with participants. The average event time is 4.5 to 6 hours, more than double the play of other Real Escape Games.
The game launched on Friday, May 27, 2022 and was originally scheduled to end on Sunday, March 26, 2023, but its popularity led to an extension through Sunday, May 28, 2023. It has now received a second -- and final, according to Tokyo Dome Resort -- extension that will carry through to July 23, 2023. The organizers hope Godzilla fans will take this opportunity to enjoy the Real Escape Game as part of their summer vacations.
