The popular "Godzilla Interception Operation - National Awaji Island Institute of Godzilla Disaster" (ゴジラ迎撃作戦 ~国立ゴジラ淡路島研究センター~, Gojira Geigeki Sakusen ~ Kokuritsu Gojira Awajishima Kenkyū Sentā ~) attraction at the "Nijigen no Mori" animation theme park in Awaji Island Park, Hyogo Prefecture, has announced an update to their current exhibit.
On December 3, 2022, the "Mechagodzilla Special Exhibition" (メカゴジラ特別展, Mekagojira Tokubetsu-ten) featuring Mechagodzilla suits, props and photos from movies like GODZILLA: TOKYO SOS (ゴジラ×モスラ×メカゴジラ 東京SOS, Gojira x Mosura x Mekagojira Tōkyō Esu Ō Esu, 2003), opened in the "Godzilla Interception Operation's" Godzilla Museum. An exclusive Mechagodzilla postcard was distributed as a bonus to customers who reserved advance tickets for the attraction.
This month will see an upgrade to the exhibit with a new diorama based on the 1993 film GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA II (ゴジラVSメカゴジラ, Gojira VS Mekagojira) depicting Mechagodzilla in its flying form. There will also be a photo spot that recreates the fierce battle between Super Mechagodzilla and Godzilla from the climax of the movie. In addition, rare production materials from GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA II will be on display.
To commemorate the update, a new exclusive Mechagodzilla postcard (see photo at top of this article) will be distributed as a preorder bonus to patrons starting Monday, April 10.
