New CCP Middle Size Series Godzilla EX Vol. 8 Shin Godzilla Figures Coming in September

The Japanese figure manufacturer CCPJAPAN has begun accepting pre-orders for the "CCP Middle Size Series Godzilla EX [Vol. 8] (CCP ミドルサイズシリーズゴジラEX【第8弾】, CCP Midoru Saizu Shirīzu Gojira EX [Dai 8-dan])," retro-design soft vinyl figures of monsters from the popular "Godzilla" special effects film series, at hobby shops, mass retailers, and online stores across Japan.

Based on the concept of “an old-school/new-school, yet slightly old-fashioned soft vinyl monster series,” the popular Middle Size figure line measure an average 12 cm in height and fits in the palm of a hand, making it easy to collect. This is a collection series by CCPJAPAN for soft vinyl and monster lovers, with a retro-style deformation that gives a nostalgic and somewhat “Showa-era retro” feel to the figures.

EX [Vol. 8] focuses on the movie SHIN GODZILLA (シン・ゴジラ, Shin Gojira, 2016) with four completely new figures of Godzilla (2016) that will be available in four colorings: two regular head types and two heat ray emission types. The prototypes were sculpted by Jiro Kobo, who previously worked on CCP's popular GMK Godzilla and Middle Size Series Gamera figures. They are the largest figures in this series, due to the poseable extra- long tail that is one of Shin Godzilla's best known features.

The shape of the head, based on a mushroom cloud motif, is also acurately recreated, as are the monster's upward-facing palms. The unique shape of Shin Godzilla's feet, with the heels raised like a bird's feet, is also reproduced, along with the details of the small claws and dorsal fins.

In addition, the heat ray emission versions features a different head with Shin Godzilla's mouth wide open and the lower jaw extended. The intricate modeling even includes the folds inside Godzilla's mouth.

The figures will be released in Japan in September 2025. Fans in North America should check Toho's Official Godzilla Store in the coming weeks for pre-order details.

The Standard Ver. soft vinyl figure is the closest to Shin Godzilla appearance in the movie, molded in a specially mixed color that resembles Godzilla's body color. The red glow seen on Shin Godzilla's body is vividly expressed with metallic red candy paint.

The coloring of the Heat Ray Standard Ver. expresses the tragic yet beautiful glow of Shin Godzilla's heat ray that turns Tokyo into a sea of fire.

The key to this figure is the gradation coloring of metallic purple and metallic pink, painted on top s highlights to create the brightness of the light. Even the tip of the tail is colored, and the eyes are reproduced in silver to recreate the membrane that covers Godzilla's eyes when it unleashes its heat ray. In addition, the inside of Godzilla's mouth is painted silver to recreate its brightness when the heat ray is emitted.
