Toho Co., Ltd. has provided SciFi Japan with press notes and high-res images from WHISTLEBLOWER (?????, Nanatsu no Kaigi), based on the acclaimed novel The Seven Conferences by Jun Ikeido, author of Rikuoh, Downtown Rocket and the Naoki Hanzawa series. The movie is directed by Katsuo Fukuzawa (I`D RATHER BE A SHELLFISH, THE CRIMES THAT BIND).
WHISTLEBLOWER looks at the tendency of Japanese corporations to sacrifice those employees at the bottom. A seemingly lazy businessman takes a stand to reveal the corruption running rampant throughout his corporation. STORY Sakado (Ainosuke Kataoka), #1 sales section chief for the manufacturer Tokyo Kenden, is asked to step down due to his harassment of a slacker employee named Yasumi (Mansai Nomura). Harashima (Mitsuhiro Oikawa), the #2 section chief who has come to terms with always being second best to Sakado, is promoted to the #1 spot. However, the position conceals an unimaginably dark secret for the company...
