He recently made a welcome return to the genre of his early days with CREEPY (????? ?????, Kuriipii Itsuwari no Rinjin, 2016), an adaptation of Yutaka Maekawa`s mystery novel. His new film has proven a favorite at international film festivals, including the July 26th Canadian premiere at the 2016 Fantasia Festival. STORY After a traumatic incident, criminal psychologist and former police detective Takakura (Hidetoshi Nishijima) moves to a new neighborhood with his wife Yasuko (Yuko Takeuchi) to make a fresh start. Upon meeting their new neighbors, the Nishinos, Takakura senses something odd about them, particularly Mr. Nishino (Teruyuki Kagawa). Then he is approached by the Nishinos` daughter Mio (Ryoko Fujino), whose shocking whispered confession shatters the serenity of his new life: "That man in my house is not my father... He`s a total stranger."
