Third Window Films are pleased to announce the acquisition of Sion Sono`s latest work HIMIZU (???, 2012). Sion Sono`s LOVE EXPOSURE and COLD FISH have both been previously released by Third Window Films, and they are proud to continue promoting the works of one of the most talented directors in contemporary Japanese cinema. HIMIZU had its world premiere at the 2011 Venice Film Festival where it played in competition and won the Marcello Mastrioanni award for Best Young Actor and Best Young Actress. Based on the famous manga of the same name by Minoru Furuya (Ping-Pong Club), the film tells the story of a teenager who aspires to be “ordinary” and “normal” in this world of chaos. But after an incident that can never be erased from his life, his wish becomes something impossible to achieve, turning him into a person obsessed with sanctioning all the evil people in society... HIMIZU will have its theatrical release in Japan on January 14th, 2012. The UK will see it open on the 27th of April 2012. The UK DVD release date will be in July.
