Source: Avery Guerra The new independent daikaiju film ATTACK OF THE GIANT TEACHER (??????????????????????, Atakku Obu Za Jaianto T?ch?, 2019) will have its premiere at this year`s G-Fest, running Friday, July 12 through Sunday, July 14 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, IL. The movie will screen on both Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. ATTACK OF THE GIANT TEACHER is a classic style tokusatsu film that tells the story of Kenzo Miyazawa, an earnest teacher who works at a night high school. His class is filled with unique and slightly odd students. Suddenly, the night school witnesses a drop in student numbers and has no choice but to shut down by the end of the year. Mr. Miyazawa’s class decides to create a musical for the school’s last festival. Then, an alien beast invades Earth and begins destroying the town. Mr. Miyazawa challenges the alien beast to a fight.

The film was made by Yoshikazu Ishii, one of the few directors in Japan to also carry the title of special effects director. A familiar face to G-Fest attendees, Ishii was born in Tokyo on November 27, 1965. After serving as an assistant director on various products, he met Toho special effects director Koichi Kawakita and began studying special effects. He would go on to work as a special effects assistant director on GODZILLA: FINAL WARS (??? ?????????, Gojira Fainaru U?zu, 2004), NEGOTIATOR: MASHITA MASAYOSHI (????????, Koshonin Mashita Masayoshi, 2005), SINKING OF JAPAN (????, Nihon Chinbotsu, 2006), DAIMAJIN KANON (??????, 2010), GANTZ (??, Gantsu, 2011) and ULTRAMAN SAGA (?????????, Urutoraman Saga, 2012). Yoshikazu made his debut as a director in 2006 with the film COOL DIMENSION (???????????, K?ru Dimenshon). His directorial credits include JUNE 6 OMNIBUS MOVIE; EPISODE 2 MISSION (6?6? ???????????????? mission?, 6 Tsuki 6-Nichi Omunibasu Eiga `Epis?do 2 Mitsumei Mission`, 2013) and GAME MASTER DEATH SUSHI (???????, G?mumasut?, 2016). He went on to assume the roles of director and special effects director for the television dramas ULTRAMAN GINGA Episode 2: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT`S DREAM (2013) and ULTRAMAN GINGA S Episode 4: THE MEANING OF STRENGTH (2014). In addition to working on movies and television dramas, he has also dealt with the making of videos for commercials, games, Pachinko, events and other various genres.
