Well Go USA Acquires North American Rights Source: Well Go USA Entertainment, CJ E&M Pictures The Korean movie production and distribution company CJ E&M has licensed the North American rights for the WWII tale MY WAY (?? ??, Mai Wei) and the 3D dinosaur film TARBOSAURUS (???????) to distributor Well Go USA Entertainment.
Based on a true story, MY WAY is directed by Kang Je-kyu (TAEGUKGI: THE BROTHERHOOD OF WAR) and stars Jang Dong-Kun (TAEGUKGI, THE WARRIOR`S WAY), Joe Odagiri (SHINOBI, MUSHI-SHI), and Bingbing Fan (BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS, SHAOLIN). The film begins in Japan-colonized Korea during the 1930s, where Jun-shik (Jang) and Tatsuo (Odagiri) are rivals hoping to compete as marathon runners in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. But when war breaks out with the U.S.S.R. Jun-shik is forced to enlist in the army. Tatsuo is recruited to become the head of defense in Jun-shik’s unit. Tatsuo devises a scheme to attack the Soviets but the plan falls apart and Tatsuo and Jun-shik are held captive. When the Germans attack the Soviets, the POWs are forced to join the Soviet Army. Jun-shik and Tatsuo try to escape, but are captured by the Germans, and the two are forced to separate. In 1944, Jun-shik and Tatsuo meet again on the shores of Normandy. As the battle against the Allied Forces grows imminent, Tatsuo proposes to Jun-shik that they escape together. Amidst the chaotic throes of an enemy attack, Tatsuo and Jun-shik make a run for their lives. MY WAY will have its world premiere with an official “end of production” event at the 2011 Busan International Film Festival, and will open in theaters in Korea in December. Well Go USA has picked up DVD/Blu-ray, digital, Video on Demand, and television rights and is planning the North American release for early 2012. The family adventure TARBOSAURUS was directed by Han Sang-ho. The film combines computer animation and live action photography to tell the story of dinosaurs who inhabited the Korean Peninsula 70 million years ago. At that time, the area now known as Jeonnam Yeosu was the forest habitat of a species of theropod dinosaur called Tarbosaurus.
The youngest of a family of Tarbosaurs, Spotty is a curious and playful child. Along with his mother and siblings, he lives happily in the forest, waiting patiently to learn to hunt. When that day arrives, it marks the beginning of a long and painful journey into adulthood. The cunning One-eye, an older Tyrannosaur looking for a new home, attacks the Tarbosaur pack, viciously killing Spotty’s family. Now on his own, he meets up with another lonely, lost Tarbosaur. Blue Eyes becomes his constant companion for two decades and the mother of his own children. But fate is fickle and Spotty’s troubles with One-eye are not over. He waits for the day when he can take on the Tyrannosaur and reap vengeance. Revenge, death, fear, and sadness are all in Spotty’s future... as is happiness and hope. Well Go USA has acquired North American theatrical, DVD/Blu-ray, digital, Video on Demand, and television rights for TARBOSAURUS. No release date has been set.
