Well Go USA Entertainment is offering SciFi Japan readers a chance to win a Blu-ray of the visually lush Xianxia fantasy LEGEND OF THE DEMON CAT (???, Y?o M?o Zhuàn, 2017). From Kaige Chen, the acclaimed director of FAREWELL MY CONCUBINE, the award-winning film stars Xuan Huang (BREAKING THE WAVES), Shôta Sometani (Takashi Miike’s FIRST LOVE), Yuqi Zhang (THE MERMAID) and Hao Qin (THE NIGHTENGALE). Havoc descends upon the Imperial Court of the Tang Dynasty when the General’s wife is possessed by an ancient demon. Through a series of unexpected twists and turns, the unlikely duo of an eccentric poet and dutiful monk, unravel the dark and ancient mystery behind a centuries-old death of a beautiful courtesan in hopes it holds the key to saving the general’s wife. LEGEND OF THE DEMON CAT won awards for Best Supporting Actress (Yuqi Zhang), Best Costume Designer (Tongxun Chen), Best Production Designer (Nan Tu, Wei Lu) and Best Visual Effects (Norio Ishii) and was nominated for Best Director (Kaige Chen) and Best Cinematographer (Yu Cao) at the 2018 Asian Film Awards. In addition, the film was nominated for Best Director (Kaige Chen) and Best Picture at the 2018 China Film Director’s Guild Awards and Kaige Chen was named Best Director at the 2018 Chinese Film Media Awards. LEGEND OF THE DEMON CAT debuts on Blu-ray (SLP: $29.98) and Digital October 22 from Well Go USA Entertainment. The film is presented in the original Mandarin with an English dub plus English subtitles, has a runtime of approximately 110 minutes and is not rated. Bonus materials include trailers.
