Note: Final Blu-ray and CD cover art will be added as soon as they arrive from Media Blasters.
Media Blasters Inc. has revealed the specifications and final cover art for their upcoming Tokyo Shock release of the Godzilla classic DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (?????, Kaiju Soshingeki, 1968). The movie will be sold separately on both DVD (SRP $19.98) and Blu-ray (SRP $29.98). The discs have shipped to retailers and have a street date of October 25th, 2011. Media Blasters will also release a DESTROY ALL MONSTERS soundtrack CD on November 8th. The DESTROY ALL MONSTERS Blu-ray and DVD cover features artwork from the film`s original Japanese theatrical poster. Toho had very firm guidelines regarding the cover art, and the final design was not confirmed until early October. While going through the approvals process, Toho provided Media Blasters with a few images for the American distributor to use in their pre-order announcement to retailers this past July. The temp design— using a GHIDORAH THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER illustration from the Japanese GODZILLA DVD COLLECTION II box set released by Toho in 2007— was only created for the advance retailer solicitations and never intended to be used for the actual release. Despite Media Blasters` explanation, the temp art was repeatedly posted on fan sites, message boards and Facebook as the final cover design. Not all details have been revealed as yet, but Media Blasters has confirmed that the main feature is the Japanese language version of DESTROY ALL MONSTERS with Japanese credits. The English credits are included as extras. The Japanese language track will be presented in both 5.1 and 2.0, with an English track in 2.0 only. Special features will include some materials from the Japanese release plus new U.S. extras. In addition to the features listed below, Media Blasters has hinted that "a few surprises may be found" on the discs. The DESTROY ALL MONSTERS Blu-ray, DVD and Soundtrack CD can be pre-ordered from online retailers and Media Blasters` distributor, Allegro Media Group.
