More than two years after publishing their last Godzilla comic IDW Publishing has signed a new licensing deal with Toho. Their first release will be the Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters trade paperback, collecting all twelve issues of the 2011 series that launched IDW’s Godzilla program. Written by Eric Powell (The Goon), Tracy Marsh and Jason Ciaramella with artwork by Phil Hester (Green Arrow) and Victor Santos, Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters was the first American Godzilla comic book series to also feature additional Toho monsters such as Rodan, Mothra, Anguirus, Gigan and Mechagodzilla. The collected edition is scheduled for July, runs 304 pages, and retails for $29.99. "Kingdom of Monsters was originally published as three paperbacks," explained Justin Eisinger, IDW`s Editorial Director for Graphic Novels & Collections. "We are now binding up all three books into one volume. It has never been collected like this." The following month see the long-delayed release of Godzilla: Complete Rulers of Earth Vol. 2. The first volume was released in July 2016, with the second originally solicited for January 2017 then canceled when IDW`s original Godzilla license expired in late 2016. This trade paperback includes issues #13-25 of the Chris Mowry, Matt Frank (Godzilla: Rage Across Time) and Jeff Zornow run, concluding the series. Godzilla: Complete Rulers of Earth Vol. 2 runs 280 pages and retails for $29.99. Listings for it and Kingdom of Monsters can be found on Amazon and other retailer sites. In addition to these two titles, IDW is again offering their trade paperback collections of Godzilla: Oblivion (120 Pages, $19.99) and Godzilla: Rage Across Time (120 Pages, $19.99). As for new material, “We don’t have anything immediately to announce, but we’re eager to do more Godzilla comics,” said Bobby Curnow, Group Editor at IDW Publishing.
