Anime Jungle has provided a sneak peek at some of the Godzilla merchandise being sold exclusively at the “G in Jungle” Special Event on Saturday, May 3, 2014. The event caps off a day of Godzilla`s 60th anniversary festivities headlined by two screenings of GODZILLA VS BIOLLANTE (??? VS ?????, Gojira Tai Biorante, 1989) at the Aratani Theater in the Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles. GODZILLA VS BIOLLANTE will be shown at 3:00pm dubbed in English and at 6:00pm in the original Japanese language with English subtitles. The screenings are planned as a part of Fiesta Matsuri by the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center (JACCC) in Little Tokyo. In attendance will be special guests Koichi Kawakita and Norihiko Iwasaki. Mr. Kawakita started his special effects career at Toho in 1962 and became lead SPFX director on the Godzilla series with GODZILLA VS BIOLLANTE in 1989, supervising the effects through 1995`s GODZILLA VS DESTOROYAH (???VS??????, Gojira tai Desutoroia). Norihiko Iwasaki is a producer and owner of the FX company Marbling Fine Arts, which has created miniatures for the Godzilla, Gamera and Ultraman series. Before the screenings, Mr. Kawakita and Mr. Iwasaki will give live demonstrations of SPFX modeling and camera techniques with a miniature set. Both guests will also appear at “G in Jungle”, a FREE event at Anime Jungle beginning at 9:00pm. They will take part in a panel and Q&A session, sign autographs* and screen the rarely-seen independent tokusatsu short film THE GOD OF CLAY (???????, Nendo no Kamisama, 2009/2011) which was co-directed by Mr. Kawakita and features miniature models by Mr. Iwasaki. The event will also feature a presentation on independent Japanese monster movies by film historian Mark Jaramillo. Mr. Kawakita will also bring exclusive Godzilla merchandise from his company Dream Planet Japan -- including the four poster shown at the top of the article -- to sell at the event. There will also be a brand-new GODZILLA VS BIOLLANTE exclusive poster available only during “G in Jungle”!
