ATTACK ON TITAN: THE MUSICAL, the live 2.5D Musical entertainment based on the wildly popular manga (comic book) by Hajime Isayama and published by Kodansha, has sold out its entire New York engagement at New York City Center, selling about 9000 tickets over its four- performance engagement this past weekend. Directed by breakdance world champion Go Ueki (HYPNOSISMIC -Division Rap Battle- Rule the Stage), ATTACK ON TITAN: THE MUSICAL had its world premiere in Osaka and Tokyo in January, 2023 to great success. The New York City Center engagement marked the musical’s first international performance and the show will be returning to Japan in December and January.
Critics and fans are raving about ATTACK ON TITAN: THE MUSICAL as well. Mixed Feelings cheered, “It is absolutely insane! The Spiderman musical wishes it was this sick,” and ComicBook.com applauded, “Fingers crossed that these performances will mean that more anime stage plays make their way to the West.” Yahoo Japan said, “Attention is growing on the musical version of Attack on Titan, which is loved all over the world,” and Crunchyroll praised the production, calling it “a colossal first appearance.”
The musical’s reach is global. Fans traveled from 48 states around the country to see ATTACK ON TITAN: THE MUSICAL, as well as Austria, Belgium. Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
“ATTACK ON TITAN: THE MUSICAL had one of the most successful on-sales of any of our shows and introduced thousands of new people to New York City Center,” said Michael Rosenberg, President and CEO of New York City Center. “The artists, crew, and production team were a joy to work with and integrated beautifully with our Production Staff. The press and social media coverage expanded well beyond our traditional reach - introducing City Center to an entirely new audience. It was an honor to have the first 2.5D musical share the same stage as our Fall for Dance Festival and our Tony Award-winning Encores! series.”
