Toho Co., Ltd. has provided information and photos from their movie DOCTOR-X THE MOVIE (劇場版ドクターX FINAL, Gekijō-ban Dokutā X FINAL), which opened in Japanese cinemas in early December.

INTRODUCTION

The television series DOCTOR-X (ドクターX　～外科医・大門未知子～ , Dokutā X ~Gekai Daimon Michiko~) debuted on TV Asahi in 2012 and ran for seven seasons through 2021. It followed the exploits of the lone-wolf genius surgeon, Michiko Daimon, who stuck true to her words: "I never fail."

DOCTOR-X recorded the highest average viewership ratings over a ten-year period, and has now been adapted into its first movie. Daimon, who has successfully performed numerous difficult surgeries, now faces her greatest crisis.

DOCTOR-X THE MOVIE is directed by Naoki Tamura. A longtime director and producer at TV Asahi, Tamura has worked in various genres of television productions. He has also directed the DOCTOR-X series since its first season.

DOCTOR-X THE MOVIE had its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival on October 31, 2024.

STORY

Michiko Daimon (Ryoko Yonekura), a genius freelance surgeon, leaves Japan to save the life of the president of a certain country.

Meanwhile, a young new hospital director, Hiroto Kamizu (Shota Sometani), arrives at Teito University Hospital. Hiroto is a highly skilled surgeon with connections in the political and financial world, and his twin brother, Takato (also Sometani), has financial backing from a medical development company. The doctors and nurses are fired one after another as the company orders thorough streamlining of operations.

Michiko is called back to Totei University Hospital by her former colleague, Hikaru Morimoto (Kei Tanaka). She and Hiroto hit it off, but Hiroto's face changes when he meets Michiko's mentor, Akira Kanbara (Ittoku Kishibe). What is Hiroto's true purpose in coming to Teito University!?

Morimoto flies alone to Kure, Hiroshima, to investigate Michiko's past. There, he learns the unknown secret of Michiko Daimon's birth.

As Michiko, Akira, and Hiroto's pasts become intertwined, Michiko faces the greatest crisis in her life! Prepared to have her medical license revoked, she takes on the challenge of a “devil's operation."

"No matter how tough the operation, I will never fail my patients." With the words Akira once spoken to her in her heart...
