Gamera series actor Carl Craig has joined the all-star genre cast of upcoming monster movie, KAIJU: ISLAND OF FIRE. Born in 1956, Carl was the son of a US military officer stationed in Japan when he was cast by director Noriaki Yuasa in the co-lead role of Boy Scout Jim Morgan in Daiei's GAMERA VS. VIRAS (ガメラ対宇宙怪獣バイラス, Gamera Tai Uchū Kaijū Bairasu, 1968), originally released in America as DESTROY ALL PLANETS. He later served in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserves as a pilot and was a federal law enforcement officer in the Department of Homeland Security.

KAIJU: ISLAND OF FIRE is the first film in a planned franchise. The story begins when a geological anomaly is discovered by a team of scientists on an ancient Japanese Island. After the members of a construction team, who were in the process of building a new military base there, go missing, a combined military and science task force is sent to investigate. Once on the island, the task force encounters a foreboding, fiery landscape now home to a strange and terrifying creature, capable of destroying them...and all who venture near!

KAIJU: ISLAND OF FIRE is written and directed by Andrew L. Phillips, an experienced stuntman with credits on CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and THE EXPENDABLES series.

The creative team includes Creature Designer Kakeru Haraguchi, Special Effects Consultant Hiroshi Katagiri (CAPTAIN MARVEL, ANTLERS, THE MANDALORIAN) and Visual Effects Supervisor Duncan Buckley (THE FABLE, ONZOSHI BOYS). The main cast features Wes Wing, Thelma Rún Heimisdóttir, Toshihiro Wakita, Emma Stuart-Box, Yutaka Nozawa, Michael Cristoph and Michael Wayne Herrington Jr.

Following in the footsteps of 3Y Film productions such as NEZURA 1964 (ネズラ1964, 2020) and HOSHI 35 (星35), KAIJU: ISLAND OF FIRE will also feature a number of well-known legacy actors from kaiju cinema. Carl Craig will be joining a cast that includes such recognizable names as Tomoko Ai (TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA, ULTRAMAN LEO), Kent Gilbert (GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH, PEKING MAN), Chuck Wilson (GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH), Tom Constantine (KAMEN RIDER: REIWA THE FIRST GENERATION, POWER RANGERS: DINO FURY), Inge Murata (MONSTER X STRIKES BACK: ATTACK THE G-8 SUMMIT, SHIN GODZILLA), Robert Scott Field (GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH, ULTRAMAN NEOS) and Linda Miller (KING KONG ESCAPES, THE GREEN SLIME).
