Toho Co., Ltd. has provided information and photos from their new movie GRAND MAISON PARIS (グランメゾン・パリ, Guranmezon Pari), which opens in Japanese cinemas on December 30th.

    INTRODUCTION

The television series LE GRANDE MAISON TOKYO (グランメゾン東京, Guranmezon Tōkyō) aired on the TBS Sunday Theatre in the fall of 2019. The story revolved around the unconventional French chef Natsuki Obanai (Takuya Kimura) and chef Rinko Hayami (Kyoka Suzuki) who, along with the staff of the restaurant Grand Maison Tokyo strive to become the world's best "three-star restaurant".

The show was a hit, and now the story continues on the big screen. Set and filmed in Paris, the home of French cuisine known as the world's best, Obana and his team will attempt to become the first Asian restaurant to receive three stars in France.

The director for the film is Ayuko Tsukahara, who worked on the the television series as well as the dramas MIU404 (2020) and UNNATURAL (アンナチュラル, Annachuuraru, 2018). Her film credits include MY HAPPY MARRIAGE (わたしの幸せな結婚, Watashi no Shiawasena Kekkon, 2023), LAST MILE (ラストマイル, Rasuto Mairu, 2024) and the upcoming FIRST KISS (ファーストキス, Fāsuto Kisu, 2025).

Chef Kobayashi Kei of Restaurant KEI, who in 2020 became the first Asian to receive three stars in France, will serve as the film's culinary supervisor. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a miracle for a chef in a foreign country to receive three stars for his own restaurant, and Restaurant KEI remains the only Asian restaurant to receive three stars in the Michelin Guide France.

    STORY

It's been a while since Grand Maison Tokyo was awarded three stars in Japam...

Natsuki Obanai and chef Rinko Hayami have opened a new restaurant, Grand Maison Paris and are working hard to become the first Asian chefs to receive a Michelin three-star rating.

In France, where famous masters compete fiercely, it is Obana's long-cherished dream to receive three stars for French cuisine. However, for a chef in a foreign country, even obtaining satisfactory ingredients is a high hurdle, and being selected for a three-star rating is a dream beyond a dream. Then, following a blunder at a gala dinner, Obana promises his former teacher that, if he doesn't get three stars in the next Michelin, he will quit the restaurant and leave France.

Can Obana overcome these setbacks to obtain the world's highest rating? Team Grand Maison's passionate "final challenge" begins now...
