Nikkatsu Corp. has provided information and photos from their new comedy-action adventure KAIJU GUY! (怪獣ヤロウ!, Kaijū Yarō!).

The film is directed by Award-winning indie filmmaker Junichiro Yagi and produced by Mitsuyo Ota, both of Titan Co., Ltd JP. It was released theatrically in Japan on January 31, 2025 by Aya Pro JP (Aya Productions). Nikkatsu Corporation is handling international sales.

Comedian Gumpy (aka Gunpi) of the comedy duo "Haru to Hikoki", who has more than 1.68 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, in his first starring role in KAIJU GUY! He plays Ichiro Yamada, a government employee in the tourism department of Seki City, Gifu Prefecture. After being ordered by the mayor to produce a "local film'' to increase tourism, Yamada, decides to make it a monster movie, which has been his life-long dream.

The supporting cast includes idol Yuka Sugai (CHASER GAME W: MY EVIL BOSS IS MY EX-GIRLFRIEND), Toru Tezuka (20TH CENTURY BOYS, SHIN GODZILLA), Natsume Mito (LOVE LIFE), Hiroyuki Hirayama (M, HONNOUJI HOTEL), Yoji Tanaka (GREAT YOKAI WAR, WHAT TO DO WITH THE DEAD KAIJU?), Akaji Maro (KILL BILL), and Michiko Shimizu (BELLE).

STORY

I just love kaiju. That's all there was to it—I was a local government employee.

Ichiro Yamada, 34 years old, who works in the tourism section of the Seki City in Gifu Prefecture city hall, is ordered by the mayor one day to produce a "local movie" to promote tourism. However, Yamada, who had doubts about making a "mediocre local movie," came up with the idea of creating a "monster movie," which had been his dream for a long time!

But this idea soon escalates into a major incident involving the entire city administration...! Will Yamada be able to complete the monster movie he has always dreamed of making!?
