Toho has provided information and images for TOKYO MER: Mobile Emergency Room - THE MOVIE (劇場版『TOKYO MER～走る緊急救命室～』, Gekijōban “ TOKYO MER ～ Hashiru Kinkyū Kyūmeishitsu ～”). The movie opens in Japanese cinemas this Friday, March 28th.

The movie is a spinoff from the TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) television series, TOKYO MER: Mobile Emergency Room, which premiered on July 4, 2021. The main character is Kota Kitami (Ryohei Suzukii), a brilliant young ER doctor, who has been handpicked by Mayor Azusa Akatsuka (Yuriko Ishida) to head a new emergency response team dubbed TOKYO Mobile Emergency Room, or MER. Outfitted with leading-edge medical technology and a large mobile operating theatre allows the team to quickly respond to major accidents, natural disasters, and other emergencies. Their mission is simple: Save every life. Team member Nao Otowa (Kento Kaku) , sent by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on a secret mission, ends up forming a close professional bond with Kota, and together the two men put their lives on the line every day to rescue others.

The TOKYO MER: Mobile Emergency Room television show was a ratings and critical hit, winning “Best Asian Drama for a Regional/Intenational Market" at ContentAsia Awards 2022” and “Best Actor"(Ryohei Suzukii) at the 4th Asia Contents Awards.

The cast and crew of the show have reunited for the first TOKYO MER theatrical feature film!

Story

An explosion rocks the Landmark Tower in Yokohama. Thousands of people are forced to flee the scene of an unprecedented emergency.

Doctor Kota Kitami insists that he should go to the scene as soon as possible. However, Dr. Yui Komoi (Anne Watanabe) , the chief of Yokohama MER, an elite group newly established by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, insisted, "If we don't proceed with caution, we will not be able to save all the lives that can be saved."

70 floors above the ground, 193 people are trapped inside the skyscraper. Explosions continue to rock the building, and flames close in. In the chaos, many people are seriously injured, but the flames and smoke make it impossible for rescue helicopters to get close. It was a crisis of desperation...

It also turns out that Chiaki Takanawa (Riisa Naka), who has remarried Kitami, is also stranded in the building. She is in the last trimester of pregnancy and at risk of a premature delivery.

Tokyo MER rolls into action, determined to save all 193 lives.
