End Credit Song For Global Hit Anime Series MY HERO ACADEMIA Source: Funimation press release Official Site: sayuri-official.com (Japan) Special Thanks to Scott Barretto Milan Records, an imprint of Sony Music Masterworks, announces the release of ABOUT A VOYAGE (WORLD EDITION) with music by Japanese singer-songwriter “Sanketsu-girl” Sayuri. Available everywhere Friday, November 29, the four-track EP features Sayuri’s ending theme song to the award-winning, fan favorite anime series MY HERO ACADEMIA entitled “About a Voyage,” as well as three original tracks showcasing the breadth of Sayuri’s talent as a rising star in the J-pop world. Sayuri most recently released the music video for “About a Voyage” featuring anime-style visuals inspired by the series.
Of the release, SAYURI says, “To me, MY HERO ACADEMIA is like a lucky charm that turns my inner, little thoughts to a solid power. I wrote ‘About a Voyage’ out of my wish to sing a song like that. I hope you enjoy this ending theme song alongside the development of the story.” Chronicling a group of high school students training to be future super heroes, MY HERO ACADEMIA continues to be one of the most awarded anime series each year ever since its 2016 debut. MY HERO ACADEMIA is distributed by Funimation, the global anime subsidiary of Sony Pictures Television, which premiered Season 4 of the series last month. Catch the new season of MY HERO ACADEMIA streaming now on FunimationNow and Hulu.
About “Sanketsu-girl” Sayuri
Sayuri is a 2.5D-parallel singer-songwriter who strums her acoustic guitar as she performs as “Sanketsu-girl” (hypoxia-girl). An icon of the “Sanketsu generation,” Sayuri appeals to listeners who feel a sense of inferiority as well as superiority based on their distinct sensibilities and values that differ from others. Sayuri’s unique activities in the 2D world are centered on SNS and the Web and are paired with live performances in the 3D world, resulting in her position in the crossover area (i.e. the 2.5D world). Her lyrics resonate with people in their teens and twenties, dealing with the emotions and suffocating effects of living and searching for their place in the world; her voice naturally stays present to listeners’ hearts, tenderly embraces their loneliness and channels it into hope. Sayuri made her major debut on August 26, 2015 with “Mikazuki,” the closing theme of Fuji TV’s Noitamina anime series RAMPO KITAN: GAME OF LAPLACE. The rough-hewn beauty of the song spoke deeply to the anime world, earning the singer tremendous support and a breakout hit. Sayuri’s releases continue to be hugely successful, including her fourth single “Furaregai Girl,” which was written and produced by RADWIMPS’ Yojiro Noda. Her first full-length album Mikazuki no Kokai was released May 17, 2017 and debuted at No. 1 on Oricon’s daily album chart on its release day! It also notched the No. 3 spot on Oricon’s weekly album chart. Sayuri’s collaborative single with MY FIRST STORY entitled “Dawn” outperformed all of her previous singles, and will be followed by the November 27th release of her latest single “About a Voyage.” As more and more people continue to call themselves “Sayuri manias,” and resonate with Sayuri’s singing, presence and world, this new-dimensional artist cannot be ignored.
