THE NEXT GENERATION -PATLABOR- /Part 2 (THE NEXT GENERATION ????????2?, Za Nekusuto Jenereeshon - Patoreibaa - /Dai 2-Shoo, 2014) begins a two week limited theatrical run in Japan on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Supervised by director Mamoru Oshii (GHOST IN THE SHELL, THE SKY CRAWLERS), the live-action adaptation of the MOBILE POLICE PATLABOR (??????????, Kidoo Keisatsu Patoreibaa) manga and anime runs for thirteen episodes, which are being released in seven theatrical chapters. The series will conclude with a feature-length film in 2015. THE NEXT GENERATION -PATLABOR- /Part 2 contains Episodes 2 and 3 from directors Tsujimoto Takanori (HARD REVENGE, MILLY films, BUSHIDO MAN) and Hiroaki Yuasa (THE WOMEN OF FAST FOOD, cinematographer on Oshii`s ASSAULT GIRLS). Naoto Takenaka, who voiced the character Shigeki Arakawa in the anime film PATLABOR 2: THE MOVIE (??????????, Kidoo Keisatsu Patoreibaa The Movie 2, 1993), guest stars in Episode 3. Episode 2: TYPE 98, RELAUNCH (98??????, 98-Shiki Sakidoo Seyo) The wave of Labor crimes have subsided, leaving the 2nd Labor Platoon of the 2nd Division and their AV-98 Ingrams with little to do. The old machines repeatedly break down and require constant maintenance, while members at the highest levels of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department conspire to shut down the 2nd Division for being an unnecessary expense. Adding to the platoon`s woes, an Ingram misfires in front of the police commissioner during an annual equipment overhaul. Can the team get the Ingrams repaired and up to snuff before the 2nd Division is disbanded for good? Episode 3: TEKKEN AKIRA (?????) Labor pilot Akira Izumino loves police dramas, Labors and video games. With sharp reflexes and an eye for danger, Akira has become a master gamer... but during a visit to an arcade while off-duty she is trounced at TEKKEN by a middle-aged man. Determined to regain her title, Akira begins an insane game training regime under the supervision of her commanding officer, Yuuma Shiobara.
