With the ULTRAMAN X (???????, Urutoraman Ekkusu, 2015-2016) television series heading towards its conclusion on TV Tokyo, Tsuburaya Productions` today officially announced the theatrical spin-off ULTRAMAN X THE MOVIE: HERE COMES! OUR ULTRAMAN (??? ??????? ??????????????, Gekijoo-ban Urutoraman X Kita Zo! Ware-ra no Urutoraman) for Spring 2016. Part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Ultraman, the film will feature X unveiling a new ultimate power -- the Beta Spark Armor -- against a "black shadow" approaching the Earth. ULTRAMAN X THE MOVIE will be directed by Kiyotaka Taguchi, lead director on the ULTRAMAN X series. he worked on FX for the Godzilla franchise starting with GODZILLA VS MEGAGUIRUS (??? × ????? G????, Gojira tai Megagirasu: Jii Shoometsu Sakusen, 2000) and made his directing debut with the independent production G (????? ?, Daikaijuu Eiga G, 2007). After making the popular NHK short film GEHARHA: THE DARK AND LONG HAIR MONSTER (????????, Choohatsu Daikaijuu Gehara, 2009), Taguchi directed episodes of Tsuburaya`s NEO ULTRA Q (???????Q, Neo Urutora Kyuu, 2013), KAIKI DAISAKUSEN: MYSTERY FILE (????? ??????????, Kaiki Daisakusen Misuteroo Fairu, 2013) and ULTRAMAN GINGA S (??????????, Uurutoraman Ginga S, 2014). Distributed by Shochiku, ULTRAMAN X THE MOVIE will open in cinemas across Japan on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Additional details on the film will be revealed Saturday, December 12. Fans who don`t want to wait can find more information in the new issues of Shogakukan`s TV-kun (?????, Terebi-kun) and Kodansha`s TV Magazine (???????, Terebi Magajin), both on sale now.
