Limited Edition Contents Godzilla Body Godzilla Tail Power Supply Unit Instruction Manual Godzilla 1954 is the sixth release in X-Plus’ “Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection” of 30cm Toho figures with sculpts by the renowned artist, Yuji Sakai. Sakai based his sculpt on the monster`s look in the original GODZILLA (???, Gojira, 1954), in particular, an image from the Japanese poster artwork for the Americanized edit of that film. Toho licensed GODZILLA to American distributor Edmund Goldman in September 1955. Goldman brought in additional partners, who cut the film, dubbed it into English and added newly-shot scenes starring Raymond Burr. This reworked edit was released in the United States as GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS! in April 1956. The American version was also released in approximately 50 countries around the world, earning ¥40 billion at the box office. In May 1957, Toho screened the Raymond Burr GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS! in Japanese cinemas as ??? ??? (Kaijuu o Gojira). Sakai`s sculpt replicates the monster`s pose on the GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS! Japanese poster, with Godzilla`s arms spread as it looks down upon the stars of the film. As with the previous Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection releases, the figure is reproduced from the master mold to retain as much detail as possible from the original sculpt. The Shounen Ric website is offering an exclusive version of Godzilla 1954 with a built-in light-up gimmick for the monster’s dorsal fins, not available from other retailers.
