The Japanese toy company X-Plus Co., Ltd. has provided SciFi Japan with information and high-res photos of their giant monster figures scheduled for release in late January 2014. This month`s lineup focuses on reissues and limited edition items available exclusively from the company`s official Shounen Ric website.

Large Monsters Series: Astromons -- Shounen Ric Exclusive /??????? ????????? ????????? Product Size: Height Approximately 24cm Material: PVC (Vinyl) Specifications: Painted Package: Window Box Shipping: Late January - Early February, 2014 Price: ¥11,865 (Tax Included) Space Monster invasion! X-Plus will release a figure of Astromons from the ULTRAMAN TARO (?????????, Urutoraman Tarou, 1973-1974) television series. With a whip right arm, hook for a left hand, and the Tigris Flower appendage in its abdomen, the look of the monster exemplifies the unorthodox, wacky design of the beasts featured in ULTRAMAN TARO. Astromons was introduced in the very first episode of the series, THE MOTHER OF ULTRA IS LIKE THE SUN (?????????????, Urutoraman Tarou: Urutora no Haha wa Taiyo no yo ni), in which it swallowed the Super Beast, Oil Drinker, whole through the Tigris Flower. Based on the manga by the legendary Osamu Tezuka, the series was dubbed in English and entitled THE SPACE GIANTS for syndication on American television starting in 1970. Goa was renamed `Rodak` for the US release. Previously released as a soft vinyl figure, the Real Master Collection: Goa is constructed of poly resin to allow a higher degree of surface detail.
