A SCIFI JAPAN EXCLUSIVE

The Japanese collectibles company X-Plus Co., Ltd. has provided SciFi Japan with information and more than 100 daikaiju-sized photos of their monster figures scheduled for release in July 2019.

The company’s official Shonen-Ric as X-Plus website offers Exclusives and Limited Editions with bonus features or extra pieces not available from other retailers, with shipping on some items also now available to customers in North America, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. The standard “General Distribution” versions of the figures are sold by stores and online retailers, including SFJ sponsor Anime Jungle. Most X-Plus figures are recommended for fans and collectors ages 15 years and older.

First released in March 2013, the Toho Daikaiju Series figure of Mechagodzilla (1975) is being reissued in a new light-up version.*

This is the Mechagodzilla 2 design from the 1975 film TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA (メカゴジラの逆襲, Mekagojira no Gyakushū), in which the cyborg monster was repaired and rebuilt after being defeated by Godzilla and King Caeser in the previous movie. The sculpt reproduces all of the details of the newly modified suit, such as the chestplate, legs and the sharpened finger missiles on both hands. The figue also includes a light-up feature for Mechagodzilla’s eyes. The gimmick requires two AA batteries (sold separately).

The figure is being is sold internationally by the Shonen-Ric website and Toho’s official Godzilla Store. It will not be available from retail stores.

* This version does not include the electronic brain parts that came with the 2013 Limited Edition release.

The Ancient Monster Gomora returns to the Daikaiju Series with a new sculpt!

More than eight years after the release of their Gomora (Reborn) figure, X-Plus brings out the third figure of the popular kaiju from the original ULTRAMAN (ウルトラマン　空想特撮シリーズ, Urutoraman Kūsō Tokusatsu Shirīzu, 1966-67) television series.

Shonen-Ric is offering a Limited Edition version that comes with an exclusive, 1/1 scale replica of Ultraman’s transformation device, the Beta Capsule. The hero loses the Capsule during his first battle with Gomora in ULTRAMAN Episode 26: THE MONSTER HIGHNESS (怪獣殿下, Kaijū Denka).

P-Production’s SPECTREMAN (スペクトルマン, Supekutoruman, 1971-72) returns to the Daikaiju Series with Nezubirton. The monster was introduced in the two part story, ATTACK OF THE TWO-HEADED BEAST, from Episodes 9 (恐怖のネズバートン, Kyōfu no Nezubāton) and 10 (怪獣列車を阻止せよ！！, Kaijū Ressha o Soshi Seyo!) of the series.

The figure faithfully reproduces Nezubirton’s odd appearance during the show, which was created by combining a rat and pigeon.

The fourth DefoReal Series Kamen Rider figure depicts the titular hero from the KAMEN RIDER ZI-O (仮面ライダージオウ, Kamen Raidā Jiō, 2018-19) television series. The show is the 20th and final Heisei Rider series.

The palm-sized figure features the hero’s distinctive head design and henshin belt. Zi-O’s compound eyes are molded in translucent plastic and glow red when the figure is placed on his display stand. The light-up gimmick requires requires two LR44 coin batteries (sold separately).

From the first Gamera sequel, GAMERA VS. BARUGON (大怪獣決闘 ガメラ対バルゴン, Daikaijū Kettō: Gamera Tai Barugon, 1966), the frozen monster Barugon comes to the Daiei 30cm Series!

A legendary monster from New Guinea that is said to be reborn once every thousand years, Barugon can emit a deadly rainbow from his dorsal spines. But the monster is best known for his tongue, which can launch from his mouth like a battering ram and also spray a freezing liquid. The X-Plus figure allows Barugon’s tongue to be displayed in his mouth or extended in attack posture.

Shonen-Ric is offering a Limited Edition version of Barugon with a built-in lighting function for the figure’s eyes and seven prism spines.

A 30cm figure of the 1966 Gamera design (commonly called “Barugame”) is currently in the works.

From Toho’s classic GHIDORAH: THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER (三大怪獣 地球最大の決戦, San Daikaijū Chikyū Saidai no Kessen, 1964) comes the late 1964 incarnation of Godzilla. A less menacing expression is the distinguishing trait of this particular Godzilla when compared to the previous version from MOTHRA VS GODZILLA (モスラ対ゴジラ, Mosura Tai Gojira), released earlier that same year.

Shonen-Ric Premium Bandai and the Godzilla Store are offering a Limited Edition version of this figure that comes with mini figures of Rodan and Mothra, making it possible to arrange the kaiju trio as they confront King Ghidorah.*
