Source: Shochiku Co., Ltd. Official Site: cho-sankin.jp (Japan) Shochiku has released a trailer and new images for their upcoming samurai comedy MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: SAMURAI (????????, Chokousoku! Sankin Kotai). The story involves the "sankin kotai" system, inaugurated in 1635 by the shogun Iemitsu Tokugawa. Under the shogun`s orders, the feudal lords had to reside in the capitol city of Edo for several months of each year while their wives and families had to stay there year-round. Masaatsu Naito (Kuranosuke Sasaki), a lesser and poor lord, receives an impossible order from the Tokugawa Shogunate to do sankin kotai. With no money, he must manage to get his clan to Edo in 4 days... a journey that normally takes 8 days. Adding to their woes, ninja, spies and even the checkpoint at Edo Castle block their way. How are they ever going to accomplish this super difficult mission!? MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: SAMURAI will open in Japan on June 21, 2014. The film will have its world premiere at the Okinawa International Movie Festival on March 21st, where it will screen under the alternate title ULTRAFAST! SANKINKOTAI.
