Kadokawa`s 65th anniversary celebration of their Kadokawa Bunko publishing imprint continues with the theatrical heist caper ONE THIRD (???????, Sanbunnoichi). Based on the 2012 novel Sanbunnoichi by Hanta Kinoshita, the film is the third feature directed by Hiroshi Shinagawa following his smash hits DROP (????, Doropu, 2009) and SLAPSTICK BROTHERS (??????, Manzai Gyangu, 2011). Shinagawa had written his previous films, but fell in love with Kinoshita`s novel and decided he had to adapt it for the big screen. Assisting Shinagawa is a star-studded cast headed by Tatsuya Fujiwara, internationally known for his performances in BATTLE ROYALE (?????????, Batoru Rowaiaru, 2000), the DEATH NOTE (?????, Desu Noto, 2006) series and SHIELD OF STRAW (???, Wara no Tate, 2013). Koki Tanaka is a member of the J-Pop group KAT-TUN who has acted in numerous television series. Ryuichi Kosugi is one-half of the popular comedy duo Black Mayonnaise. Singer Mika Nakashima starred in the movies NANA (??, 2005) and NANA 2 (??2, 2006). Yosuke Kubozuka`s credits include ICHI (?, 2008) and HIMIZU (???, 2012). Shinnosuke Ikehata appeared in Akira Kurosawa`s RAN (?, 1985) and provided the voice of the shinigami Rem in DEATH NOTE: THE LAST NAME (????? The Last Name, Desu Noto: The Last Name, 2006). Billed as "a non-stop, unpredictable entertainment spectacle", ONE THIRD promises a series of betrayals, twists and turns, laughs and surprises. Shu (Tatsuya Fujiwara), manager of the cabaret club "Hanibani" (Honey Bunny), partners with his employee Koji (Koki Tanaka) and longtime customer Big Ken (Ryuichi Kosugi) to rob a bank. Stealing millions of yen, the successful crooks return to the club to split up the loot. But while the three had previously agreed to divide the money equally between them, each is consumed with greed and wants more than their one-third share. As the trio plot and scheme against one another, others -- including the "King of Darkness" Sho (Yosuke Kubozuka), "Kawasaki Witch" Tamiko (Shinnosuke Ikehata) and nightclub hostess Maria (Mika Nakashima) -- look to make the most of the infighting. Who will come out ahead in the end?
