    What if your friend drops their smartphone? And what if a serial killer finds it? And... what if you become the serial killer`s target? Toho Co., Ltd. has provided information and high-res photos from their new thriller, STOLEN IDENTITY (?????????????, Sumaho o Otoshita Dakenanoni). The movie is based on the acclaimed mystery novel He Just Dropped His Smartphone, written by Akira Shiga and published in April 2017. This novel struck a chord with readers as it detailed a horrifying experience that could happen to anybody in this day and age when smartphones are a must-have item. In the story, the man who finds a lost smartphone is a cold-blooded serial killer and a "cracker," a hacker with malicious intent. Asami, the main character, becomes the target of this serial killer, who hunts women with long black hair. By manipulating SNS activity and impersonating other users, the serial killer steals personal information about Asami and the people around her. Asami finds her life in danger... just because her boyfriend dropped his smartphone. STOLEN IDENTITY was directed by J-Horror legend Hideo Nakata (THE RING, DARK WATER, DEATH NOTE: L, change the worLd, GHOST THEATER) and stars Keiko Kitagawa (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT, ROOMMATE, LET ME EAT YOUR PANCREAS, PUNK SAMURAI SLASH DOWN). The movie opens in Japan on November 2, 2018. STORY One day, Asami calls her boyfriend and hears an unfamiliar male voice on the other end, The man informs her that he found the lost smartphone and makes arrangements to return it to Asami. It safely reaches her, and she gives it back to her boyfriend. Bus she has no idea that the man, a serial killer, has hacked the smartphone and stolen all its data.
