    PIFAN Godzilla Anniversary Program Update

    Author: Kim Song-ho Source: Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival As previously reported, The 18th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea is screening seven Godzilla films, including the 1954 original, for its special 60th anniversary program this month. The program includes GODZILLA (ゴジラ, Gojira, 1954), INVASION OF ASTRO-MONSTER (怪獣大戦争, Kaijuu Daisensoo, 1965), DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (怪獣総進撃, Kaijuu Soshingeki, 1968), GODZILLA VS. HEDORAH (ゴジラ対ヘドラ, Gojira Tai Hedora, 1971), TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA (メカゴジラの逆襲, Mekagojira no Gyakushuu, 1975), GODZILLA VS. BIOLLANTE (ゴジラvsビオランテ, Gojira Tai Biorante, 1989) and GODZILLA: FINAL WARS (ゴジラ ファイナルウォーズ, Gojira: Fainaru Uoozu, 2004). In addition to the films, PIFANs "THE GREAT KAIJU, GODZILLA 60 YEARS" program features two talk sessions:

    Mega Talk I: The Great Kaiju, Godzilla and His Friends

    Date and Time: July 19 / 1PM KST Place: CGV Sopoong 7 Moderator: Alice Yoo (PIFAN Programmer) Panels: Kim Taek-kyu (Film Producer), Hong Ki-hoon (Chief Editor of Big Monster) and Kim Song-ho (Chief Editor of Cinefringe and Monster Preservation Site) In this session, fans of the Big G discuss their passion and memories of the King of the Monsters, with detailed information on the history of the series.

    Mega Talk II: The Great Kaiju and the Great Composer, Akira Ifukube

    Date and Time: July 24 / 2PM KST Place: CGV Sopoong 7 Moderator: Alice Yoo (PIFAN Programmer) Panel: Yasutaka Takeda (Head of Arts Department, The Japan Foundation Seoul) Mr. Takeda will share his knowledge and insight on the music of Akira Ifukube in this rare chance of getting to know this maestro of the Japanese film music.
