The director and acting team behind the hugely entertaining FISH STORY reunite for their latest film, SEE YOU TOMORROW, EVERYONE (??????????, Minasan, Sayonara, 2013). Directed by Yoshihiro Nakamura, who has earned worldwide praise for making very entertaining films from very complex and intelligent stories, SEE YOU TOMORROW, EVERYONE is based on the Papyrus Rookie of the Year Award-winning novel by Takehiko Kubodera. Gaku Hamada, the star of ULTRAMAN GAIA: THE BATTLE IN HYPERSPACE, FISH STORY and SAKE-BOMB, is Satoru, a simple boy who lives in a government-built estate where he’s told that life is so perfect that he never wants to leave. Story Japan, the 1980s... Satoru Watarai, the film`s protagonist, was born and raised in a high-end apartment project.

Many such projects were built to house people in modern luxury as Japan enjoyed an economic boom. Complete with top amenities including a shopping center, doctor’s office, a dentist, a barber, and even a library, the complexes were designed to provide everything the residents need in their daily lives. Satoru takes that idea to heart. He quits school and decides to live his entire life only within the project grounds. Hinagu, Satoru`s single mother, smilingly assures her son that he`ll find a way to survive. As Satoru turns 16, he gets his dream job at Taijironne Bakery, the cake shop he adores. When he turns 20, he falls in love with Saki, his elementary school fantasy girl and loses his virginity. He makes friends, dates, and gets married all within the confines of his apartment complex. Satoru lives in perfect contentment within the projects. Until one day Saki demands that they go to a karaoke club near the train station. Satoru walks down the long flight of steps leading out of the projects. Halfway down, Satoru has a severe panic attack revealing the truth behind his decision to stay in the projects. Satoru begins to realize that his not leaving the apartment complex was not because of a desire to stay, but because of a fear of the outside.

A traumatic event 10 years earlier locked Satoru in the microcosm of the projects. Satoru has worked hard to preserve that reality, exemplified with his dogged protection of his fellow residents. Despite his desires, his former classmates, Saki, Yuri and his employer, Taijiro, all leave the projects. As the projects age noticeably, the last of Satoru`s classmates moves away. Satoru meets a girl named Maria and he puts his energy into protecting her from her stepfather`s abuse. He helps Maria but she soon leaves the projects. All that remain there are the elderly, newly arrived foreign laborers. Time passes, and the projects grow increasingly more deserted and rundown. Satoru still manages to get by, but one day he gets a phone call telling him that his mother has had a stroke. He begins to see the love his mother has shown him as she quietly watched over him through the years. He is now 30. At long last he has faced himself and is ready to go outside... Writer/Director: Yoshihiro Nakamura Born in 1970 in Ibaraki Prefecture. While a student at Seijo University, his 8mm film SUMMER RAIN KITCHEN (?????, Samidare Chubo, 1993) won the Pia Film Festival`s runner-up prize. After graduation he worked as an assistant director for filmmakers such as Yoichi Sai, Juzo Itami and Hideyuki Hirayama, and made his feature debut in 1999 with LOCAL NEWS (????????, Rookarunyuusu). He also subsequently co-wrote screenplays for DARK WATER (????????, Honogurai Mizu no Soko Kara, 2002), LAST SCENE (??????, Rasutoshiin, 2002) and WHEN YOU SING OF LOVE (??????, Koi ni Utaeba, 2002) with Kenichi Suzuki, DOING TIME (?????, Keimusho no naka, 2002) with Chong Wishing, and QUILL (??-?, Kuiiru) with Shoichi Maruyama.

For 2005 he directed a succession of films that includes THE BOOTH (??????????????, Zettai Kyoofu Buusu), SIT OVER THERE (?????, Asoko no Seki), @BABY MAIL (@???????, @beibimeru). In 2006, ROUTE 225 (??????, Ruuto 225) was released in Japan, then in 2007, his adaptation of Kotaro Isaka`s novel The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck, and God in a Coin Locker (?????????????, Ahiru to Kamo no Koinrokka), which had been regarded as unfilmable, instantly brought him widespread recognition. He went on directing films such as THE GLORIOUS TEAM BATISTA (???????????, Chiimu Bachisuta no Eikou) and THE TWO IN TRACKSUITS (???????, Jaji no Futari) in 2008. The theatrical releases continued in the following years; THE TRIUMPHANT RETURN OF GENERAL ROUGE (?????????????, Jeneraru Ruju no Gaisen), FISH STORY (??????????, Fisshuu Sutoorii) in 2009, and GOLDEN SLUMBER (??????????, Goruden Suranba) in 2010. This film was officially selected as a film for 60th Berlin International Film Festival Panorama Section. In 2010, he directed the film A BOY AND HIS SAMURAI (????????, Chonmage Purin), which won the 10th New York Asian Film Festival Audience Award. In 2011, He directed KAIBUTSU-KUN: THE MOVIE (???????, Eiga Kaibutsukun) which was his first film to be shot in 3D. After CHIPS (???, Potechi) in 2012, SEE YOU TOMORROW, EVERYONE is his eagerly-awaited latest work. He is a genuinely talented filmmaker, a “director`s director” trusted by his casts and crews alike.
