Source: Third Window Films press release Special Thanks to Adam Torel Third Window Films are very pleased to be the first in the world to release a newly remastered high definition Blu-ray of Shinya Tsukamoto`s cult classics TETSUO: THE IRON MAN (?????????, Tetsuo, 1989) and TETSUO II: BODY HAMMER (?? II????????????, 1992). Not only does the double-disc Blu-ray and DVD set include a new transfer of both films -- digitally restored from their original negatives -- it also features Shinya Tsukamoto`s 45 minute pre-TETSUO film THE ADVENTURES OF ELECTRIC ROD BOY (???????, Denchu Kozou no Boken, 1987) which has also been remastered. To top everything off Third Window has a brand new exclusive interview with Tsukamoto, talking about both Tetsuo films as well as giving a 5 minute introduction to ROD BOY.
To make the set even nicer Third Window are including 5 different sleeve images in the box, with 2 of them brand new illustrated works. There will be a cardboard slipcase with 1 image from TETSUO: THE IRON MAN (see the top photo on this page) and then double-sided sleeve artwork (see photo to the right), each side featuring an image from both Tetsuo films, so you can have a choice of what images you want on your box! The TETSUO: THE IRON MAN / TETSUO II: BODY HAMMER Special Edition Blu-ray is now available for pre-order directly from the Third Window Films Amazon Page. The set is also available on UK DVD (Region 2, PAL). SPECIFICATIONS Release Date: October 8th, 2012 Blu-ray: Region B DVD: Region 2, PAL Rating: 18 Running Time: 150 Minutes Number of discs: 2 Anamorphic Widescreen Transfer Original Japanese Audio in Surround Removable English Subtitles TETSUO: THE IRON MAN A strange man known only as the "metal fetishist", who seems to have an insane compulsion to stick scrap metal into his body, is hit and possibly killed by a Japanese "salaryman" out for a drive with his girlfriend. The salaryman then notices that he is being slowly overtaken by some kind of disease that is turning his body into scrap metal, and that his nemesis is not in fact dead but is somehow masterminding and guiding his rage and frustration-fueled transformation. TETSUO II: BODY HAMMER More of a companion piece to TETSUO: THE IRON MAN than a sequel, TETSUO II: BODY HAMMER sees Tsukamoto’s disturbing vision of a world populated by man-machines explode into a stunning color interpretation. The Iron Man transforms into cyberkinetic gun when a gang of vicious skinheads kidnap his son. When the skinheads capture him, they begin to experiment on him... speeding up the mutative process!
