Legendary, lovely and elegant Japanese actress Yukiko Kobayashi is the latest addition to the cast of the independent kaiju film THE GREAT BUDDHA ARRIVAL (????, Daibutsu Kokaiku). Kobayashi appeared in several Toho films in the late 1960s-early 1970s, and is known to kaiju/tokusastu fans for playing the female lead character Kyoko Manabe in DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (????? Kaij? S?shingeki, 1968), Yuko Nonomura in THE VAMPIRE DOLL (??????? ??????, Chi o Suu Ningyo, 1970), and Saki in SPACE AMOEBA/YOG: MONSTER FROM SPACE (???????????? ??! ??????, Gezora, Ganime, Kam?ba: Kessen! Nankai no Daikaij?, 1970). THE GREAT BUDDHA ARRIVAL marks a welcome return to the genre for Yukiko Kobayashi.
