Questionnaire Responses:
There were no single correct answers for this contest. Here are the questions and some sample replies that we received... 1. Name three Japanese animated films that have been theatrically released in the United States. A: Studio Ghibli`s PRINCESS MONONOKE, SPIRITED AWAY, and HOWL`S MOVING CASTLE were the most-repeated choices. Other films named were AKIRA, GHOST IN THE SHELL, STEAMBOY, BLEACH: MEMORIES OF NOBODY, METROPOLIS, POKEMON: THE FIRST MOVIE, and VAMPIRE HUNTER D. 2. Name three anime TV programs that aired in America. A: Contestants gave a wide variety of TV shows, including SPEED RACER, POKEMON, ONE PIECE, INUYASHA, ASTRO BOY, SAILOR MOON, YU-GI-OH!, STAR BLAZERS, GURREN LAGANN, OUTLAW STAR, GHOST IN THE SHELL STANDALONE COMPLEX, ULTIMATE MUSCLE, NEON GENESIS EVANGELION, COWBOY BEBOP, BLEACH, DRAGON BALL Z, DIGIMON, WOLF`S RAIN, TENCHI MUYO, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM WING, THE BIG O, and NARUTO. 3. Create your own silly anime title (Keep it clean, folks! X-rated submissions will be automatically disqualified). A:We were pleasantly surprised that we did not receive a single X-rated suggestion (a big `thanks` to our readers for being classy!). Some title ideas were "Super Ultra Dysfunctional Schoolgirl Kitten Fighters!", "Shin Getter Super Maiden Sorceress Sailor Suit Robo Danger Quest Explorer: Revenge of Sinister Bad Devil Man Gaiden III", "Kaijujin vs. Vampire vs. Yokai vs Alien Monster Big Battle!", "Most Stuffed Yumi-Chan: Food Fight Chronicles!", "Robotic Television Warrior of the Future Street Jack: The Purple Papaya Protector Chronicles", "Granzinger Glamorous: Detergent", "Demon Detective Hiroko: Supernatural Case Files Solve!", and "Super Robot Defender Graider R: The Reign of Flame (2nd season)". Apparently colons are a key ingredient when naming anime!
