Toei has provided information and pics for their PETALS AND MEMORIES (花まんま, Hana Manma). The film is based on Minato Akegawa's short story colllection Hana Manma, which won the 133rd Naoki Prize in 2005.

The movie was directed by Tetsu Maeda, whose credits include A BANANA? AT THIS TIME OF NIGHT? (こんな夜更けにバナナかよ　愛しき実話 , Konna Yofuke ni Banana kayo: Kanashiki Jitsuwa, 2018), AND, THE BATON WAS PASSED (そして、バトンは渡された, Soshite, Baton wa Watasareta, 2021) and WE'RE BROKE, MY LORD! (大名倒産, Daimyō Tōsan, 2023). It stars Ryohei Suzuki (TOKYO MER: Mobile Emergency Room - THE MOVIE) and Kasumi Arimura (RUROUNI KENSHIN film series).

PETALS AND MEMORIES opens in Japanese cinemas on April 25, 2025.

STORY

"Hana Manma" is a small flower lunch box given to someone special.

Having lost their parents at a young age, siblings Toshiki Kato (Ryohei Suzuki) and Fumiko Kato (Kasumi Arimura) have lived together ever since in the downtown area of Osaka. Toshiki, the older brother, has continued to protect his younger sister Fumiko, keeping in his heart the promise he made to his late father to "protect his sister no matter what."

With Fumiko's upcoming marriage, Toshiki was finally able to take a load off his shoulders as a parent figure. However, Fumiko has a long-held secret she has yet to share with him, and it now comes out...
