Tsuburaya Productions (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masayuki Nagatake)has provided SciFi Japan with images and press notes for their upcoming television series ULTRAMAN OMEGA (ウルトラマンオメガ, Urutoraman Omega). The show will premiere on Japanese television on the six TV Tokyo affiliates from 9AM on Saturday, July 5th, 2025 (Japan time), and will also be broadcast and streamed simultaneously both domestically and overseas in more languages than the previous series, ULTRAMAN ARC (ウルトラマンアーク, Urutoraman Āku, 2024-25). An English dubbed version will be available online.
The Ultraman series has been loved by generations from Showa to Heisei, and from Heisei to Reiwa. In July 2025, just ahead of the 60th anniversary of the series' birth, the new special effects series ULTRAMAN OMEGA will begin, broadcast and distributed simultaneously from Japan to the world.
Synopsis
An alien suddenly falls from the sky onto an Earth where there are no heroes or monsters. It is an Ultraman whose symbol is the red space boomerang he holds, the Omega Slugger, and his name means “ultimate.”
The alien "Omega", who has lost his memories, appears in the form of an Earthling and is named "Sorato". Sorato looks at people with great interest, trying to understand the Earthlings, the life form he is coming into contact with for the first time.
The word "monster" comes back to life from Sorato's lost memories, referring to the giant creatures that appear from time to time. As giant monsters, or "kaiju," begin to appear one after the other, Sorato unconsciously feels a sense of mission, and he transforms into Ultraman Omega, engaging the beasts in intense, fast-paced combat.
Meanwhile, the people of Earth, encountering this giant being for the first time, look at it from every angle, trying to understand what Omega is as he fights with his red slugger.
Before long, Sorato and an ordinary young man—an alien and an Earthling, become friends. Through the hearts of these two partners, who gaze into each other's eyes and resonate with each other, this ambitious work asks the question, "Why does Ultraman protect the Earth?"
Now is the time to awaken. Don't miss the latest TV series, ULTRAMAN OMEGA!

The protagonist, Sorato Okida, transforms into a giant of light who wields the red space boomerang, "Omega Slugger" (オメガスラッガー, Omega Suraggā). Since he lost his memory and fell to Earth, his origins and other past details are shrouded in mystery.
When Sorato wills it, the Omega Slugger appears in his hand. Then, by loading the sparkling pendant he wears around his neck, the "Omega Meteo" (オメガメテオ, Omega Meteo), its wings open and he is enveloped in dazzling lights, transforming into Ultraman Omega. After transforming, he uses the Omega Slugger on his head as a weapon to engage in quick, exhilarating battles.
Whether in Sorato's form or Omega's form, when facing someone, he first takes on the "Omega Scope" (オメガスコープ, Omega Sukōpu) - the pose depicted in the key art posted above right -, a gesture in which he stares intently at the other person's eyes with his outstretched palm facing them.
His special move is the "Reticulute Beam" (レティクリュート光線, Retikuryūto Kōsen), which he unleashes with both hands clasped together.

■ Sorato Okida (Played By Shori Kondo)
Sorato is an alien who lost his memory and fell to Earth. He is curious about the lifw form known as "Earthlings" that he sees for the first time, has a cheerful personality like a child, and still speaks stumblingly. Whenever he senses the presence of a monster, he instantly displays his extraordinary physical abilities. Furthermore, his memories of being Ultraman, the names and characteristics of monsters, etc. are recalled intermittently. When he transforms into his 50m-tall Omega form and fights at full force, he naturally consumes a tremendous amount of physical strength, and feels extremely hungry after each battle.
Actor Shori Kondo plays the protagonist Sorato, the human form of Ultraman Omega. He was born April 12, 1994 in Osaka Prefecture.
After graduating from university, Kondo aspired to be an actor and made his debut by joining the theater company Gekidan Patch, which is based in his hometown of Osaka and is active in the Kansai region. He made his breakthrough when he gave a great performance as a popular character in a hit play. A member of Watanabe Entertainment, he is known for his naturally well-trained physique and his acting talent that allows him to handle even delicate expressions.
Comment: "I'm Shori Kondo, who will be playing Sorato Okida. First of all, I'm very happy to be able to transform into Ultraman.
When I was young, I was an only child in a single-parent household, and my playmates at home were Ultraman soft vinyl toys. I still remember my mother buying them for me, and teaching me the names of each Ultraman. I want to tell that young Kondo, "When you grow up, you'll become Ultraman!"
Starting in July, I will save the Earth as Sorato Okida, Ultraman Omega.
I think I've created a fascinating character. It's a work that both children and adults can enjoy. Please look forward to it!"

■ Lead Director: Masayoshi Takesue
Director Masayoshi Takesue, who is well known for his work on the "New Generation Ultraman Series," will be the lead director of ULTRAMAN OMEGA.
Takesue was born September 4, 1978 in Yamaguchi Prefecture. He moved to Tokyo with the aim of becoming a film director, and studied film at Nikkatsu Visual Arts Academy with his classmate, director Kiyotaka Taguchi (ULTRAMAN Z, ULTRAMAN BLAZAR, etc.). After first participating in the Ultraman series as an assistant director on the 2001 TV series ULTRAMAN COSMOS (ウルトラマンコスモス, Urutoraman Kosumosu), he continued to hone his skillsby participating in various productions, and has participated as a director in all series since the 2016 TV series ULTRAMAN ORB (ウルトラマンオーブ, Urutoraman Ōbu) . He was the lead series and feature film director for ULTRAMAN R/B (ウルトラマンR/B, Urutoraman R/B, 2018) and ULTRAMAN DECKER (ウルトラマンデッカー, Urutoraman Dekkā, 2022-23), and also directed the film ULTRAMAN TRIGGER: EPISODE Z (ウルトラマントリガー エピソードZ, Urutoraman Torigā Episōdo Zetto, 2022).
Comment: "I am filled with happiness and enthusiasm to be the lead director for my third series. I have been involved in the Ultraman series for over 20 years, and I have incorporated my greatest themes into this work.
This is a story about Ultraman himself. In ULTRAMAN R/B and ULTRAMAN DECKER, where I served as the main director, the story was a classic growth story about how young Earthlings escaped from a crisis, but with ULTRAMAN OMEGA, I aim to create a "story of awakening" in which Ultraman himself thinks about and explores "why do we protect the Earth?" and "why do we fight alongside Earthlings?" With familiar characters, impactful monsters, and a classic storyline, I think it will be a work that both children and adults can enjoy.
Please look forward to the new Ultraman's exploits!"
■ Series Composition: Toshizo Nemoto and Junichiro Ashiki
Toshizo Nemoto was born January 10, 1974 in Niigata Prefecture.
Has been in charge of series composition and scriptwriting for many anime works. His first participation in Tsuburaya Productions' works was co-writing the screenplay for ULTRAMAN ZERO THE MOVIE (ウルトラマンゼロ THE MOVIE 超決戦!ベリアル銀河帝国, Urutoraman Zero THE MOVIE: Chōkessen! Beriaru Ginga Teikoku, 2010). After writing for the TV series ULTRAMAN GEED (ウルトラマンジード, Urutoraman Jīdo, 2017), he worked on seevral of the New Generation Heroes productionss. He previously teamed up with Director Masayoshi Takesue for the movie ULTRAMAN TRIGGER: EPISODE Z and the ULTRAMAN DECKER television series and movie.
Comment: "In the series composition for ULTRAMAN DECKER, I aimed for a traditional, orthodox approach, so this time I tried something different... but still I feel like this was a traditional approach in its own way.
That being said, I think what people perceive as the traditional Ultraman approach is different for each individual. I guess the basis is the original, but it also depends on which era and which Ultraman you were watching. I'm from the Showa generation, but I've been influenced by the Heisei era, and I like the New Generation as well. I tried to put those feelings about Ultraman into it.
I'd be happy if OMEGA became a classic for the kids who watch it too."
Junichiro Ashiki was born January 20, 1982 and is from Shizuoka Prefecture.
Since his student days, he aspired to be a suit actor and joined Tsuburaya Productions’ CASTAFF. In parallel with his suit acting, he built his career in scriptwriting and directing, and participated in program production with the 2011 TV series ULTRAMAN RETSUDEN (ウルトラマン列伝, Urutoraman Retsuden). He has a wide range of experience in planning, composition, sound effects, etc., and was co-producer for the 2020 TV series ULTRAMAN Z (ウルトラマン Z, Urutoraman Zetto) and handled series composition for the 2021 TV series ULTRAMAN TRIGGER: NEW GENERATION TIGA (ウルトラマントリガー NEW GENERATION TIGA, Urutoraman Torigā Nyū Jenerēshon Tiga, 2012-22). He then became an independent scriptwriter while continuing to work on the Ultraman series.
Comment: "I have spent more than half my life with Ultraman, and I feel extremely happy to once again be able to be involved in a new page in Ultraman's history.
The heroes I admired as a child. The monsters I loved. What was the appeal? I feel that the work ULTRAMAN OMEGA reminded me of that. I would be happy if we can bring that kind of nostalgia to adults, and give children a new excitement that they can look back on fondly when they become adults.
Let's support Sorato and Ultraman Omega together! "
