Leading up to the release of GODZILLA MINUS ONE (ゴジラ-1.0/ゴジラマイナスワン, Gojira Mainasu Wan), the film's writer/director/FX director Takashi Yamazaki is hosting four special theatrical screenings of select Godzilla films.

The "Takashi Yamazaki Selection Godzilla Screenings in Commemoration of GODZILLA-1.0 Release" (「『ゴジラ-1.0』公開記念 山崎貴セレクション ゴジラ上映会」, "Gojira - 1.0 ” Kōkai Kinen Yamazaki Takashi Serekushon Gojira Jōeikai) series are being held at the Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas in Tokyo with a classic movie showing every other week. Yamazaki is attending each screening to take part in a discussion about his love for that particular film and how it inspired the creation of GODZILLA MINUS ONE.

September saw screenings of GODZILLA: 60th Anniversary Digitally Remastered Edition (ゴジラ　60周年記念デジタルリマスター版, Gojira 60 Shūnen Kinen Ban) and GHIDORAH: THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER (三大怪獣 地球最大の決戦, San Daikaijū Chikyū Saidai no Kessen)  with special guests Shinji Higuchi and Keizo Murase.

On October 3, one month before the release of GODZILLA MINUS ONE, the final two screenings, as well as the talk show guests for each session, were announced.

The third screening will be GODZILLA, MOTHRA, AND KING GHIDORAH: GIANT MONSTERS ALL-OUT ATTACK (ゴジラ・モスラ・キングギドラ 大怪獣総攻撃, Gojira, Mosura, Kingu Gidora: Daikaijū Sōkōgeki, 2001) which director Takashi Yamazaki has declared to be his "favorite Godzilla movie." The talk show will feature Shusuke Kaneko, who wrote and directed the film.

For the fourth screening, Hideaki Anno, who wrote, edited, and served as lead director for the 2016 blockbuster SHIN GODZILLA (シン・ゴジラ, Shin Gojira)  has been invited as a guest to present the black-and-white version of the film" which will be shown for the first time!  Entitled SHIN GODZILLA: ORTHO (シン・ゴジラ：オル, Shin Gojira: Oru) -- short for SHIN GODZILLA: ORTHOchromatic -- the black-and-white version of was  conceived by Anno with his co-director Shinji Higuchi and associate director Katsuro Onoe supervising the production.

As a bonus for fans, the 4th screening and talk show will be broadcast live to 6 theaters across Japan. In addition, SHIN GODZILLA: ORTHO will be screened at 7 theaters nationwide, including Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas on Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, 29. These three days will be a special opportunity for audiences to experience the excitement of SHIN GODZILLA in a new way.

Tickets for the screening will go sale at midnight on Saturday, October 7 from the theater's website.  All guests who attend a screening at Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas will receive an original "Godzilla Screening" sticker featuring the original poster for the film they are viewing.
