A SciFi JAPAN EXCLUSIVE Last month, SciFi Japan visited Sakata city, Yamagata prefecture to attend a special hometown celebration for Haruo Nakajima, the first suit actor to play Godzilla. In this small city in northern Japan, a special photo exhibition was being held honoring Mr. Nakajima`s life and career, entitled "The Path of Haruo Nakajima, The Man Who Became Godzilla" (Gojira-ni natta Nakajima Haruo-no Kiseki), with Mr. Nakajima himself in attendance discussing his years as Godzilla to his fans in the town where he grew up. This special event ran for just two weeks, and was the subject of episode 3 of SciFi JAPAN TV, our new web documentary series.
